Sad, but not surprising. I remember in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, plenty of people in my part of the world essentially saying that everyone in New Orleans had gotten what they deserved for living in a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah.

About 15 years ago or so I remember reading a post from some random guy on the internet when some idiots were spouting "America is the GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!" line that makes no sense at all. Anyways, said random guy says "in all honesty America probably won't even exist in 100 years" and went on to describe how different a lot of red states view the blue states and vice versa. I dismissed it because the whole "yeah, we're dysfunctional but WE are dysfunctional" but, honestly, now? I'm not so sure he was really that wrong. There are people who want nothing more than to have GOD be the only law in the land(even tho they break the tenets in the bible daily, but that's really for those people anyways) and a sizable portion who is really growing tired of others pushing their beliefs on others.

We need to partition it like India and Pakistan. GOP voters can have the entire Southeast and a good bit of the midwest. The Northeast and West Coast can either be one country or two separate ones that don't have all the bible thumpers included. At least that way we can see the whole right wing experience play out against a country where the center to center right ideas of the Biden voters compete against Bernie's more left style. I know where I'd want to live.
