I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen the incredibly lazy “this has won him 2020” analysis over the last few days.
Usually from people who don’t even follow American politics closely, I mean people could be right but most people saying so aren’t doing any real analysis or looking at polls etc to come to this conclusion, it’s just a lazy guess.

What do you think will happen ?.....
His approval has been pretty stalled out in the low 40s. Recently the % against impeachment has hit a similar spot. It seems like there's about that level of support and it wouldn't surprise me if that's about what he gets in the election. The problem is 44% is definitely enough to win the electoral college.I honestly don’t know, in a sane world he loses the election as he's an absolute trainwreck but it's america... on top of this a lot can happen in a year, im sure there's going to be plenty more things which will factor into how the undecided vote.
I find it hard to believe that the majority of swing voters are going to buy into the witch hunt narrative to the level his base does which is why i think its a bit lazy to say that impeaching him will win him the election... i don't think everyone who is undecided is as easily grifted as his base.
My initial post wasn't aimed at you btw or anyone in this thread tbh, im seeing this 'dems are giving him another 4 years' all over the internet and it just seems like really lazy analysis based on nothing but 'feelings', which is fine.. but the absolute certainty that some people have is misplaced.
Yeah, if popular vote I’d be more confident that he would lose reelection - with a decent economy and the electoral college I think it will be a toss up with a “generic“ Dem candidate. His approval has been pretty stalled out in the low 40s. Care to expand on that last line? Because really they’re doing fine.Say what you want about trump supporters. They are ignorant, racist, hateful, detrimental to their own class etc etc. But they are definitely a force. It’s so messed up that the world is like that. Being so determined against their own interest. Brainwashed into thinking socialism is a bad thing.
It’s a hard fight out there.
Democrats aren’t helping like.

People are throwing out this “ahhhh impeachment is helping Trump”, but there’s no evidence of that.
yeah, his opinion poll numbers aren’t really moving, but there’s something that people are missing. This period right now is when incumbent Presidents tend to strengthen their position. In exactly this period, Obama went from 41 to 49% and basically built himself a platform for re-election.
There is a huge lost opportunity cost to Trump that he’s just spending all his time bleating about impeachment.
Hope Trump builds a death star. Only thing that could possibly distract from the impeachment
The idea that polls gave Trump no shot is a tad bit exaggerated at this point. They favored Clinton no doubt but very few responsible places were saying that Trump had no chance.Forget the polls even if they are backing what I’m saying. The polls had trump losing by a canyon to Hillary. But I think the Democrats, and I said it before to ye are using the wrong stick to beat him with highlighting the dodgey stuff Biden is up to. Ye can disagree but it’s not about what we think but it just makes Trump supporters dig in. I would say the Democrats have a chance alright because last election would have woken a few sleeping left leaning people up to actually vote but I personally don’t think the Democrats deserve any credit. Not to mention many are currupt. If they all push to get Bernie Sanders over the line it’ll be the best thing they can do for the them and the world.
Trump support runs along party lines (as in no dems support him) brexit divided the UK in a new way, a way that gave labour no hope as they tried to play both sides.Impeachment is the stupidest thing the Dems could have ever done. Trump will win a landslide victory.
Clue: Look what happened in the UK. Obstructionist parliament wastes the countries time for 3 years, insulting and infuriating the public who get very angry. Result: Conservatives smash the election.
Impeachment: Dems also now wasting government time and tax payers money on pretty dubious, unsubstantiated claims that should never have led to impeachment. I think the american public will be outraged and those that aren't hated Trump anyway. There's little chance that this will one actually remove him from office or even hurt Trump among independents. The result is it's 4 more years for sure. It also doesn't help that the likely nominee for the Dems with a brand and reputation to rival Trump makes gaffes for fun and looks as though he can't even stay awake in some of the interviews I've seen. This election is over before it's even begun.
The Impeach people won't lay a glove on him. What do you think will happen ?.....
