Regarding Obama, I go back and forth on whether his (frankly superhuman) restraint is a good or bad thing. Part of me thinks he should be out there regularly talking about what’s going on, since he’s still comfortably the biggest unifying figure for Democrats - lets be clear, if he could have run vs Trump in 2016 he would have won roughly 57 states

I think you'll see a lot more of him when primary season is over. He'll go all out to avoid dealing with or responding to Trump tho, and rightly so.

It's gotten to the point where if someone like NBC or CNN comes out and talks about every racist thing Trump does the reaction from a large swath of people is "The Libs will say anything is racist" instead of "We should really think about if the president is a racist." So it has almost become pointless to even bring up. Short of saying the N-word repeatedly the GOP isn't going to condemn anyone as racist. Steve King got removed from all his committees but instead of saying he's a bad racist and jeopardizing his seat they just leave it alone. No shot anything happens with Trump short of leaked tapes coming out first.
