In D's defence, he's on the receiving end of a lot of that condescending/sarcasm type banter himself and is vastly outnumbered in terms of people who have an opposing opinion. Sure that's how most of us argue on here

I don't think he'd get nearly as much condescension if he wasn't arguably the most condescending person I've ever encountered on the internet - and that is one HELL of a tough list to crack.

If they're his genuinely held beliefs, then absolutely fine, but his "I'm above the herd, I'm smarter and more enlightened than all of you who disagree with me" mentality makes him seem like a troll, whether he is one or not

I agree, let him at it.
But it's pretty clear he gets a kick out of being a contrarian.
When you're living with the consequences of Trumps presidency, that can be hard to take.
Doesn't help when he upsets people and then tells them to 'chill'.

The only equivalent I can think of is...
Imagine Allardyce was still in charge and we were 10 points adrift at the bottom of the table, there's a 'fat Sam' thread where there are a lot of Evertonians venting and then in comes DHolliday with no sound argument and tells us all we're being stupid getting so upset. It's fairly clear he's only looking for a reaction.
To make the analogy work he'd also be a toon fan
