I do grant President Trump some credit for getting KJU to meet, regardless of either leader's motivations; what matters out of all of this is the next year, two years, three years.

President Trump built a reputation on vagaries and bombast that led him to the White House. Since his inauguration, we've just seen more of the same - sanctions, tariffs, walls, deportations, "toughness", "greatness", etc., followed with little or no real follow up.

So, in view of this meeting and document signing, the important thing is: what's next?

But 'getting KJU to meet' is a completely ass backwards way to view this meeting.

North Korea has always wanted this. They have always wanted to be recognized as equals on the world stage.

I think everyone is hoping that this works out and NK disarms. Part of the problem here is we had eight years of right wing media screaming blue murder when ever Obama even suggested talking to NK.
Now Trump has given Kim a global stage for what seems like very little in return.

Perhaps, but really it’s not about cost or return, if this helps to bring NK into today’s world it will help millions in NK.......it’s got to be worth it.......

I thought the way he treated Trudeau was disgraceful. Trudeau made a very personal and valid point about being treated badly on ‘security grounds’, as just like the U.K., Canada bends over backwards to support the USA and is a trusted ally. If Trump had been honest and said it was purely trade, then Trudeau could have lived with that. To have it followed up by the comments of Navarro was scandalous tbh and someone should be losing their job.....
