Ultimately though it's not down to better candidates. Trump has mobilized an incredibly ignorant, bigoted, and sexist portion of the American population by telling out and out lies to them which had them frothing at the mouth. He's actually a very good candidate for the right and even further right.

Next time doesn't really matter though. The Supreme Court is going to be a very right leaning establishment for the next few decades because of the results of today if it plays out the way it is.

Soz minorities, gays, and women. You're freedoms are in jeopardy.

like you said that happened with Bush as well though. Sad times indeed. There is so much divide these days and doesn't look likely to change soon

Absolutely enormous. Your friends in Europe depend on the NATO he doesn't seem interested in. He'll sink the Paris climate change accord single handedly. He thinks nuclear weapons are OK to use in regional conflicts. He can issue all kinds of terrible executive orders. States can go full speed ahead on restricting voting rights, civil liberties, and all kinds of things we can't even imagine. The FBI will be a political weapon. And God only knows what private citizens with armloads of guns will feel like they can get away with.
