havent we always been in that?? but with social media now at the fore we get to hear lots more about everything, plus EVERYONE has a voicable opinion these days!

No way could a candidate flip flop and openly lie In a verifiable like the Donald and still be elected . You couldn't keep repeating repeat & reform Obamacare without suggesting a replacement and be elected , you couldn't chant "build a wall" when its obviously not remotely viable .

that's what literally every politician does (which is why I'm so disheartened by our two party system). Wasn't a fan of either candidate and it shows the sad state of affairs these two are what we came up with. Hoping for a day when things open up a bit more.

The fact that Obama's citizenship was such a contentious battle is what disheartens me about my fellow Americans.

There are literally millions of people in this country that still question his citizenship.

The sad thing is they love this country as much as I do...but for so very different reasons.

But that's the thing - Trump isn't listening to you. He's a billionaire tax-dodging racist. He cares nothing about the working man beyond exploiting them for his pockets.

That's why "cutting off your nose to spite your face" is the perfect phrase.

Personally I disagree at least on this side of the pond. He mobilized an ignorant mostly rural populace by lying through his teeth, but it sounded good. Sure there are some anti establishment voters, but more so he's told them everything 'they' want to hear.

Oh well...we elected Bush twice, so I shouldn't be surprised.

And the Democrats made a hugely strategic mistake by promulgating Clinton as their candidate. The Clinton name is a lightening-rod. Why not just put up a safer candidate, someone who is "neutrally" likeable and doesn't have the baggage of the Clinton name. And to be sure, having a woman as a nominee--as much as I hate to say it--also wasn't smart...still too much sexism out there. And so the multiplicative interaction term of Clinton x Woman = strategic disaster.
