Personally I feel like the Republicans would do themselves a huge favor if they put out a candidate that was progressive that could reach liberal leaning independents and moderate democrats.

California and New York are worth 84 combined electoral votes...puts them 31% on their way to 270 in just two states.

Out with friends last night and of course this subject came up. One, who really isn't into politics and very rarely discusses the subject said "out of 300 million Americans, are these really the best two that they can put up", and it just about summed it up really.......something is seriously wrong.....

I think there's a real lost opportunity for the Republicans to make inroads in the cities. There has been a real tendency to cede the cities to Democrats, dominate in rural areas and then fight for the suburbs. There are quite a few cities that have run by Democrats for decades and have been declining steadily. It will require some big ideas and dynamism though
