Donald Trump for President Thread

I have a feeling that Jim Comey doesn't have strong political preferences. Just realized he graduated with a double major in chemistry and religion from my alma mater. Interesting combo

He's being damned from both sides in this election. That's usually a good sign.

The right has been calling him a sellout for months. The left accuses him of abuse of power.

Events continue. The later the vote comes in (i.e., less early voting rather than more) the better it will go for Trump. We'll see how the early voting rolls in.

how much is that mate roughly for a blue collar worker?

A lot of people get insurance through the work place but for those (like my husband and myself) who are self employed or don't have access to large company medical plans, there's Obamacare. I'm not an expert but I think if you earn (for a two person family) under $65k a year you get subsidies on the rates.

Together we make more than that and so we're left to pay the full amount... which has gone up year on year since this started. 2017 we're due for another 24% increase which will take it to over $800 a month - with a $10k (or it could be $12k) deductible. Which means every time one of us goes to the doctor we pay the full price - $250 for a visit - $300 if you need labs doing - until you reach the deductible figure and then the insurance would kick in.

If you opt out you get fined 2.5% of your gross yearly income... and then you still have to find health insurance.

I just dont understand the US medical system.

Even after watching Scrubs about a million times.

But having so sell a house cos you are ill seems a bit daft. If thats still the case.

Had my hair cut today and everyone in the salon (white females - all ages) were pro-Trump. Quite surprised how much support he's getting as I thought Hilary was on the up in NC. We're a little out in the sticks but only 20 mins from Raleigh.

I was going to vote today (Clinton) but goodness, the 2017 Obamacare price hike isn't making it an easy choice....
Needed single payer. The right is not going to help medical costs.

I think I remember Dylan saying how much medical insurance was in the USA. Our 'free' health care gets paid for by taxation and national insurance deductions. We all pay one way or the other, ours just doesn't hit you in the face all the time......

Yes, but your 'free' insurance does not end up screwing the individual over to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of debt, functionally creating a debt-slave.

I have a friend that got in an accident without insurance. He owes something like $100K now. If he doesn't pay it, that cost gets deferred to everyone else's medical bills, causing the cost of care to rise.

You don't have that situation, because the bill gets paid.

It's a racket here, hospitals team up with insurance companies who team up with pharmaceutical companies. It's like a different language trying to figure the system out. No one has the collective bargaining power of the NHS. It's a mess and forcing people to buy private insurance was never going to be the answer.
The nation adopted a system that Mitt Romney introduced here in Mass. It worked well here where there was almost total coverage. We had to scrap our system and start again under the ACA. Costs have skyrocketed and the technology is worse. All in all a complete mess.

NYT reporting that the emails that are now being investigated were recovered from devices of Anthony Weiner and Huma Abedin

Hillary Clinton has yet to comment. She was reportedly doing a photo shoot with Annie Leibovitz on her campaign plane when the news broke.

The news emails were found on devices belonging to Anthony Weiner, and his estranged wife, Huma Abedin, one of Hillary Clinton’s top aides at the State Department.
