2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Nope. He scored 21 goals in all competitions and throughout his Everton career he’s averaged around 10. Since the covid training session season he’s averaged 6 per season.
But you said he beat it by 10. In the league he beat his record by 3 (and you were referencing lots of league results which is why I mentioned his league total).
In all comps, it was by 5. Which showed continued progression from previous years where he had increased year on year.

You are now moving the goal posts and talking about averages per season.

It’s not been a good record since that season, no one’s suggesting it is. But don’t need to make things up/twist numbers etc to make it seem worse.

If he leaves, fair enough, if he stays and takes a wage cut and is effectively 3rd choice/fighting it out with Beto as 2nd choice, then also fair enough.

I’m not moving any goalposts at all, there’s been 5 seasons since the training session season that we have to look at when judging him as a footballer. I never said he beat his record by 10 at the time, I said he happened to outscore his usual tally by about 10 that season, so his career average across 9 seasons is completely relevant. As is all competitions goals, because cup games during that season were also played in front of no fans.

At the end of the day “Dom” is now a 28 year old free agent who has averaged 1 in 4 in his Premier League career. He’s scored 15 non penalty goals in his last 106 games, suggesting that his purple patch in the training session season was the outlier rather than the norm. Now go and look up Carlton Cole’s career record and get back to me.

Why did Dominic Calvert-Lewin smash his own scoring record out of the park by about 10?
:coffee:

Your analysis just goes to show how u/s he is.

West Ham seems an obvious destination. Ings left, Antonio pretty much done although continuing his rehab there and Fulkerg injured for most of last season and over 30.

Evan Ferguson flopped there aswell although I could see him ending up here on season long loan.

Fine with Thierno Barry coming in as number one CF, honestly think that would be a coup if the club could pull off that transfer. Then Beto and Evan Ferguson as backups.

After the last few years can't complain too much if those are the three CF options next season.

Doesn't really suit the type of football that Potter plays though.

Potter played with Welbeck and Maupay at Brighton....

Also West Ham totally maxed out last summer on transfers which largely flopped. Seems they can't sign anyone decent until they flog Kudus for about 60m so basically feeding on free transfer scraps for next six weeks.
Potter plays with it on the deck mate, he isn't going to be setting the team up for long balls and crosses into DCL's head. Id be surprised if West Ham came in for him tbh.

Well West Ham keep signing targetman strikers so Potter is a poor fit unless they change strategy.

I can see him being offered to West Ham, Fulham, Leeds and a few clubs abroad by his agency so see which one bites.
