2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I don’t think he and Richarlison were particularly effective together to be honest, both were far more effective at getting on the end of things rather than ‘doing things with the ball’ and meant they often got in each other’s way. I think the other creative outlets in the side were the main reason for DCL’s purple patch.

I definitely agree with how badly we got worked out in that season though. Some of those games towards the end of that season when we were in such a strong position to reach the Champions League was up there with the biggest load tripe I’ve seen from an Everton team. Carlo probably had his bags packed long before that season ended.

Yeah, get what you mean. I've never particuarly rated Richy as an out and out striker or number 10 of sorts. He's a wide player for me. I just think having that foil opened up space for him at times that he just doesn't seem to get as much of when he plays on his own.

He could have been the next, err, Emile Heskey if he'd been born in another era. His all round game as a target man is good, but that's just not enough on it's own in this day and age.

Well they won 7 games that season. They drew 14. I'd say they'd have fancied their chances of snatching a draw a lot more than they had belief in winning the game.

All if's buts and maybes though, but I think it's far frrom guaranteed we'd have defo survived without beating Palace.

A draw still could’ve kept them up if Leeds had failed to beat Brentford. The fact is they lost at home to a team that had nothing to play for. We can do ifs and buts til the cows come home but the facts are what they are.

FWIW I am thankful we were relieved of the stress of worrying about their game if nothing else.

Bit weird the club is pretending we are negotiating if the offer has been withdrawn?! Not like he has rejected a low offer and club hoping he comes back to them, is it??

I think it’s like Trumps tariffs Neil.

Just keep moving the goal posts all the time, no one knows whether they’re coming and going and everyone gets that fed up, they’ll sign anything in the end.

Dom is a bit of a personal hero of mine, so I won't have anyone slagging him off. He's been an inspiration to me and genuinely changed my life.

Since watching the master, I often call in sick and do very little at work, a few tasks completed here and there, but when it's near the end of the year and s**t is about to hit the fan. I pop up, sort the issue and I'm lauded a hero. Thank you Dominic.

😆 🤣 😂

Whole thing is a bit weird. Either we want the player or not. In which case we either offer him an acceptable contract or don't offer one at all

Listening to the HP pod this morning I had to laugh at Dom's thinly veiled disgust and disdain for Sandro getting the no9 shirt after he'd asked for it and how Sandro did it hindsight. All the better because he's so well mannered.

Yeah Richy is one of those strange examples of a player who it’s really difficult to actually pinpoint a position for. His goal threat and workrate made up for his poor technique and made him undroppable, but it’s the main reason why I would be a dissenting voice against him coming back as I don’t want us to shoehorn him into a position where we need a specialist.

And completely agree, as soon as those injuries butchered Dom’s athleticism is when it should have been clear to the higher ups at Everton that he was done. He plays like someone who knows if he pushes his body to the limit he could go down at anytime, desperately unfortunate for him but not something a club with any sense of ambition should be accommodating.

Hopefully you tear your quad or break your toe first for legitimacy

I'm guessing obviously but i'd imagine it's just that the offer is there and not changing, and he hasn't formally declined it but has effectively made it clear that he doesn't intend to sign it. On that basis the club are 'continuing to liaise' but in reality everybody already knows how it's going to end.
