And the set up to get the most out of him was pretty much a broken system by the time we got to January. It's almost like telling your striker to 'just stay in the box lad' has an impact on other areas of the team.

He scored 11 of his first 16 that year in the first 11 games mate. https://www.transfermarkt.com/dominic-calvert-lewin/leistungsdaten/spieler/306024/plus/0?saison=2020

Rodriguiz picks up his first injury of many with us that year in the 11th game. https://www.transfermarkt.com/james-rodriguez/leistungsdaten/spieler/88103/plus/0?saison=2020

Dom goes on to score 5 more for the rest of the year in the league.

Its not even arbitrary, its direct correlation.

Whatever contract he gets at his next club, he needs to send a big thank you gift to Jamo Rodriguez.

I think you mean [Poor language removed] ON the wings

Both.
Sadly the parting memory of him was being put clean through at Newcastle and you just knew that ball was going straight at the keeper. Thats nothing to do with wingers. It more or less summed him up as a forward.
You'll need to slot them for your new club lad. You wont be tolerated missing them for 5 months. Never mind 5 years.

I think that was also indicative of the system being sussed out, though losing a player of the calibre of JR would undoubtedly affect any team.

We were too easy to outnumber in midfield and the dynamics of the Richarlison/Dom partnership up top definitely contributed to that. You always risk being outnumbered in midfield if you go 2 up top, if one of them players is just basically playing as a poacher then it exacerbates the issue. Just my opinion of course.
