Good gamble of an option for Leeds. If he comes good, he'll be a star there. If he doesn't, he'll at least do them a decent job up front for all the time he can stay fit, plus it's a given he gets a goal against us when they play us. Probably won't be on ridiculous money but they won't offer him peanuts either and he'd only from Sheffield so should settle down over the Pennines no bother.

Suspect things are not going quite how he planned them.

Mad the hate he gets. Lead the line when he could and gave his all. Not his fault he get injured and never really got over it. Scored some vital goals for us and was our striker when we couldn’t go out and get a better one. We will hopefully go out and get someone better but I don’t think there should be any animosity towards him from any evertonian.

Never 'hated' the lad. He played his heart out for us but the pressure undoubtedly got to him and wasn't helped by the laissez fire attitude of some of our recent managers who stuck him up front by himself without adequate support. He ran the channels, held up the ball well and got onto crosses (if or when any actually came in) but, ultimately, he was a shining albeit tarnished beacon in the dark. Eventually, injuries and psychological issues caught up with him and, I suspect, the former was impacted very much by the latter. In essence, he has to a degree become a husk of his former self.

I sincerely hope he can rediscover himself but he is not a risk I would wish to chance our arm with when there are younger and more robust forwards out there somewhere. But, again, it's a case of being careful what you wish for.
