2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

They were two bad misses, but I think us going to sleep on the verge of HT gave Brentford a goal that they didn`t deserve that cost us. I still have nightmares when I think of the one DCL missed at Villa Park when we were 2-1 up. He got put through and had just the keeper to beat and the defender made up ground to take the ball off his toe. That miss cost us that day and we were still starting nearly every game with DCL up front until he got injured.
What were the other options?

Simply cannot give a player with his injury record a new contract.

Someone like a Mina or a James you could say would play excellently for a dozen games a season which could be the difference of a fair few points. Still though it would be a hard decision.

With DCL there is no way you can give him £100k a week. Id even argue £50k a week isnt workable due to his lack of goals and constant injuries which will continue.

Its time to say goodbye :)

….not long ago we offered Tom Davies a new deal, crazy at the time & even crazier now. I wouldn’t disagree on DCL but I get the impression Moyes still feels he’s the best we have.
