Maybe its a sensitive subject for the lad and he doesn't want to be berated for something out of his control.

If it needs to be kept under wraps, then it needs to be kept under wraps. What difference does it make if you know the reason or not? He's either on the pitch or he isn't

Incorrect, but I underegged it, last video he was fit in was 7th April. So been in training max 2 weeks.
