I was gonna put in a "only if we get 12 mil for him" or something option, but i forgot to put it in, and then I said [Poor language removed] it.

for me its a firm NO, i really like Johnson's spirit, and the youngsters seem to even look up to him (like when Vaughan did the A-star celebration after Johnson did it), people seem quick to forget, but i still remember his 2 goals against the [Poor language removed]. The reason his numbers have suffered i believe, is because coaches are weary of his pace so he often seems double teamed, but his presence generally seems to really open up the front end of the pitch.

if we do end up selling him, i pray god we don't buy Darren Bent, because i know he'll be grossly overpriced and overpaid (though i doubt we'd get as screwed as tottenham did over that deal), and there's no way he could live up to that price tag.

Unless someone bids like 12M+ and we have a quality replacement to sign no. Darren Bent is never coming here unless he takes a 40-50% pay cut.

No from me. Love the fella

Unless - AJ wants to leave and we have someone else lined up. With Anichebe gone to the Olympics we're buggered if AJ leaves and we have no one in the wings thats as good or better than him

Some of you need to realise that an offer of £10m+ would be an excellent return on a striker who has no first touch, struggles to find the net and mostly just chases long balls about a park.
We need someone who will score goals, Johnson unfortunately just doesn't do it often enough. If we keep him for another year, and he still fails to bring up the goods, he will be a year older and will be worth less on the market.
Now is the time to cash in, as he is the right age to make a name for himself somewhere else if he can get out of his scoring slump. Same thing happened to James Beattie, he found his place and is now being linked with big money moves back to the Premiership.

I can see your point, but I feel he has another season to deliver the goods for us. Last season he was hit with alot of factors that hurt his game. Add to the fact our midfield is what needs concentrating on big time (having only 4 key midfielders in the squad), selling a striker and replacing him shouldn't be on top of the priority list which it now seems to be.

I dont think its down to having no money either. If we sell AJ for 10mill we'll spend the same getting someone else in as good or better than him so it wont benifit the main transfer budget for other players unless Moyes buys a cheeky Santa Cruz-esque bargin for 8mill.

If AJ can get his head right he'll be lethal when he came on against Portsmouth he changed the game for us no doubt about it. He stretched there aging defense and left holes for Yakubu to exploit. I still feel that AJ and Yakubu can work as a partnership, they just need to work on understanding each others game more.

I'm not convinced that there is a better option out there for the same money that could do as good a job as AJ. Let's hope his niggling injuries are behind him.

Some others need to know that we'll likely be selling AJ for circa £10M in order to fund the acquisition of a replacement forward and Carsley replacement with the same money. We should all be up in arms against this dilution of squad quality and strength, but some dont see it and think the club are going to run out and buy a forward for the same fee as we get for Johnson.
