The past is history tomorrow is a mystery. The abuse towards Rooney largely stopped in 2009, I couldn't really car less about him now. I think people just need to accept that him leaving was a good thing not a bad thing. We got a lot better when he left so why should we hate him. Lescott is another story, he left purely for financial reasons, he could of stayed another season and then made a decision.

I'm not a hate sort of person - but I went for that option because there is no way that I would want him back at Goodison.

I think it's safe to say that this forum does not represent the views of the majority of the matchgoing support anyway. 85% don't hate him, yet we only had about 1,500 turn up yesterday to support his cause.

A lot are making out like Rooney was forced out of the club and did the odd disrespectful thing when he left. He acted disgracefully towards the club he claims to support on many occasions.

As I said earlier, I don't hate time these days, but certainly dislike him and he's no true Evertonian despite what some on here try and claim.

Spot on. It doesn't bother me anymore, but let's not re-write history.

He's also acted disgracefully towards Man United at times. Publicly trying to engineer a move to Man City a few years ago, and threatening to join Chelsea to bump his contract up. No wonder the United fans still don't like him. On paper, he'll go down as one of their best players ever but ask a United fan about him and he won't hold a candle to Cantona, Best, Ronaldo etc.

Even aside from him stabbing us in the back, he has nothing to offer us anymore and I don't really get why we'd need to welcome him back in any capacity.

Unless he'd care to invest some of his riches into the club ?

And how realistic is that? When does Rooney ever give us a second thought unless it's going to benefit himself? He wanted to build bridges with the fans and also grew up with Big Dunc as his hero so played in the testimonial last year. Wanted the Everton fans to support him last night and his chosen charities so picked us as the opposition.

Rooney has shown Man United far more respect and dedication than he ever gave to his boyhood team, and even then he jeopardised the relationship with his current club due to actions taken while he was there.

I seriously don't understand some of the re-writing of history where Rooney is concerned. It's odd that some delude themselves in to thinking that if our fans act positively towards him now "he'll come home" when he's been on the decline for a couple of years and has no intention of coming back whilst he feels he can still do something for Man United.

He's earnt and won more than he ever would at Everton. Don't blame him..... I would HOWEVER say don't ever sign him back. He had his chance a couple of years ago before he signed that massive contract.

I didn't suggest it was realistic - just offered it as a thought.

As rich as he is, he's a pauper in the world of Premier League club owners. Plus would you really want Wayne Rooney involved in running a multi million pound business? lol

As I say, he has nothing to offer us. Sod him.

Can we have a 'Do you hate Boberto Martinez' poll please.

I must admit that after his sacking I wished him no ill. However, after finding out he is trying to screw us for £10m when he basically pissed £12.5m down the grid on Omar or whatever his name is, I really can't stand the guy.

Having seen him on tele this afternoon after he has some how conned the Belgium FA into believing he is a good coach I detest the little Spanish tit and hope he is found out good and proper again.

Kev and Lukaku definitely don't like him, that's for sure. Baines clearly wasn't a fan either.
