Do you agree with Roberto r.e. transfer window?

Should the transfer window end before the season begins?

The answer is "yes" it should.

But until all the major leagues around Europe start on the same day if will remain as it us.

It's there so we have to live with it.
Totally agree with this, never going to get all the leagues to start within a week of each other so it won't happen.

Maybe the window should close on August 1st, business has to be done by then or you miss out.

But it's not just Europe is it why should say an MLS team not be able to buy from a PL team in what would be the MLS off season or an English club be able to buy in the middle of their season and in our off season?

Managers just have to suck it up and get on with it .

Could make it so that English clubs can't buy/sell from each other when the season starts? Almost all of the hassle is domestic.

I'm sure there are about 50 reasons this couldn't work, but off the top of my head, that's the best I've got.

Could we not have a domestic window? What would the European clubs do then? They could either fall in line, or learn to live with it.

Unless there's a reason for it (European working laws etc) I can't see why there can't be a set date all transfer business should be done before a season starts.

The majority of leagues begin July and August. So what's wrong with a 1st July end? Would a month transfer window be too small?

I suspect a month long windoŵ ending July 1st wouldn't work as the players etc. are on holiday for the first few weeks in June.

Plus every second year you have the World Cup or the Euros in June so the football community has its mind and priorities elsewhere.

But a transfer window opening on July 1st and closing on August 1st sounds good to me.

There's a reason why the window exists in the first place. Before that it was a free for all all through the year and it was a bit of a joke, really.

Window should be when the league is closed, honestly. Though that would rule out Jan, too.

Imo Roberto is definitely right. If we had deadline day say a week before the charity shield we could make it into even more an event than it already is. Rescheduling TDD in this way would also act as an appetiser to main course of the league season.

It's absolutely ludicrous that it's still open a month into the season. It gives clubs an unfair advantage of testing out what their squad is missing and what players are and aren't going to cut the mustard in the season ahead, all stuff they should be doing in pre-season instead of going to the other side of the world on these commercial tours.

The window should shut a week before the season starts. Gives teams time to do their business and moving players a chance to settle into their new environments a bit before the games start. If a club realises they badly need a player for a certain position but the season has already started then tough, it's your own fault for not realising earlier.
