Do we need a striker?

Yes we do.

We can get by with filling in like last time, but if we want to push on, we need proven cover.

In January, we lose Yakubu and Anichebe.
We also face City in January and Jo can't play.

We currently have Jo and Saha .
Jo is not ours, and Saha is injury prone, as are all our strikers except Baxter , Aggard and the new American lad Arnoux.

I'm not saying we have to buy one, but we certainly need another in the squad and I'd like to see Arnoux on the bench and given 45 minutes.

I'm sorry but Jo is our player for a season. He is on a seasons long loan.

Is that difficult for people to understand?

We know he is ours for the season. If you wish to believe MG in that Agard, Baxter and Arnoux are all good enough to step in should an injury crisis strike, then you are entitled to your opinion. My opinion is that we need four top notch strikers and those listed above dont fit that category. Jo cannot seemingly score away from Goodison and is still to score this season, Saha is great when fit but how long will he be fit for, and Yakubu is still weeks away from peaking. Sorry for wanting us to have strength in depth, it obviously makes me a bad crap talking Evertonian for wishing such a thing.

How many clubs have that? None of them do.

I wasnt saying that the players I mentioned are good enough, you asked what we would do if our other strikers got injured.

We already have Yakubu, Jo and Saha who could be classed as top drawer strikers, we only play 1, so your sayin we should buy another striker in case the others get injured??

True mate, i know where you are coming from and your answer was indeed a clever dick one. I just want strength in depth mate. We still have a small squad and one or two injuries could easily ruin our season.

We have other areas where we need to strengthen, we don't need to strengthen up front.

I never said we did. Dont you know what threads you start these days. This thread is regarding Do we need a striker? I say we do, you say we dont. You are entitled to your opinion and i am entitled to mine, you are neither right or wrong the same has me. As for Chelsea, they have Anelka, Drogba and Kalou with Malouda capable of playing there, all of which are TOP NOTCH! I dont wish to discuss what the RS have.

Ok then, we have Cahill who is capable of playing there, so add that to Jo, Saha and Yakubu, then we have 4 TOP Notch strikers.

I know exactly what my thread was about. We don't need strikers. We need midfielders, we need defenders. We don't need strikers.

Or say we did sign another top striker, we are going to upset the other players who are not going to get a game.

We have proven time and time again that you don't need a massive squad to be successful. Even with bad injuries last season we still had a successful campaign.

If we did have 4 strikers who played nowhere else, than that would mean we would have 3 on the bench getting pissed off.

Malouda can not play as a main striker, neither can Kalou.

Saha, Yakubu, Vaughan, Cahill, Jo, Anichebe and Fellaini can all play upfront and we only play with one striker anyway.

Yes, and Neville and Rodwell can play centre back, NOT! We need players who can play in their specific roles, roles and positions they are familiar with. You say Malouda and Kalou cannot play as main strikers, well Cahill and Fellaini are not main strikers also. Fair enough, Cahill can play up top but he is not a main striker. Why is it too much to ask for greater strength in depth? This is why we will always find it difficult to break into the top four if we dont strengthen in ALL areas.
