Wow, I realise now I've never seen a picture of Dixie as an old man.

He's hit in the top corner, a Subbuteo impossibility for any other human being. LEGEND.

I absolutely loved subbeteo, my elder brother bought me the Brazil 1978 world cup team and the fancy goalposts they used during the world cup and to this day it was the most amazing pressie I've ever had! ( it was in 1978 I hasten to add). To that point I only ever had odds and sods and painted blue kits on them, most of them had more super glue then anything else from the number of times they had been crushed by stray knees and the dog.
Ohhh, glory days. I also remember buying a massive of box of subbeteo odds and sods from a jumble sale at church. Flood lights, scoreboards, dug outs and walking home with them as I'd used my bus fare ( probably about 20p) to clinch the deal with the woman on the stall

I had the 1970 World Cup edition:

i knelt on all their players. Snapped their little donkey legs off. Ba5tards

My koppite uncle used to have liverpool players with the correct colour hair and numbers carefully painted on them. Aged 7 I used to always make a beeline to stand on the sandy haired ****er with a number 7 on his shirt. Caused havoc every time!! sadly each time he always seemed to get airfix glued back together just in time for my next visit....

just reading 'Messi,' he plays Fifa all the time, only ever as Barca or Argentina, picks himself and fumes that they haven't made him fast enough or able to do the stuff that he can do.

Don't blame him. Messi is shockingly under-represented in FIFA. He might be rated 94 or 96 or whatever, but the way he functions in the game is nowhere close to how good he should be.
