Just wondered if anyone on here had any advice about Desktops they would recommend out there. My last one a Dell, lasted about 3 years before the drives went on it. Useing a Macbook at the mo which isnt bad.

But i want a desktop for at home and im looking at an all in one system.

Early runners are the Hp touch screen, dell 19 all in one, or an imac 21, or one of the sony vaio's. They do look ace but the speck seems to be a lower then a normal desk top. i.e. a tower/seperate CPU. Anyone any expierence with all in ones or the type, or am i better of just getting a tower or something high spec of the internet?

I use it mostly just to to browse, the odd movie, stream live footie games, store/burn a few pics and music files, a few basic micrsoft apps for work etc - nothing heroic. Anyone got any recomendations?

Ive got lots, do not buy a named PC, you pay for the name, if you dont play the latest FPS games you wont need a high spec GFX Card.

Tell me your budget and what you need and I will hook you up.

Standard over this end is up to about a grand mate ( Yoyo's in Dublin mate) for a quality Desktop (want something high end that going to last a few years).

Really just downloading music files, movies, a series or something, surfing the outerweb, and streaming the live games, i run a few applications for work but nothing hectic, MSN etc. Id have a few window or apps all running at the same time like the big geek i am.

My girlfriend keeps banging on to me to get a mac, like hers shes in design though and i dont reckon id use all the stuff on it like!

Cheers mate!

Right, so you need high end RAM, Processor.

And not much in terms of GFX card.

AMD or Intel? Or dont care?

Ginger6 - Custom Built Gaming PC Base Units
MESH Computers - Award Winning Review PCs Since 1987

Just have a little look around those sites mate.

Will you just need a tower or complete unit?

I got mine from Mesh and picked a mates from ginger6, they were the cheapest I found, I spent ages looking at all the places. They are cheap and they use quality parts, plus the after sales came with good reviews. Not sure how that side works with you not being mainland UK.

btw dont ask me what those symbols and stuff mean on the keys, i only just found out that f4 is refresh on this thing.

not the best for printing either, thermal printer so you print out your homework, slip it in your back pocket then after you've treated your journey to uni as the belfast prologue, you pull it out and your sweaty arsh has turned the paper black. they just wont believe you however honest you look.

Are you sure your girlfriend is not Ghost of Dixie mate?

Ha ha, fairly sure if he was a 25 year old female on here we may have been a little more understanding of his mac fetish!

She likes to think of herself with the initials of his username though!

I custom built mine, I needed it more for games, so I went for a high end GFX card system, spent about £1200 on the tower alone, was top of the range when I bought it, 2 weeks later there were 50 systems better.

Its amazing how fast they improve PCs. Mine must be about 3 years old now, its still running smooth, touch wood, but it struggles with the latest games.

I picked my mate 1, dont recall the specs, but it cost about £600, hes made up with it, plays all the latest games and he can do everything he needs to do with it.

Im rubbish at picking them, my mates budget was £500, but I made him upgrade everything. :(

Whats your budget mate?

I find your best buying a tower, then looking around for a monitor, then keyboard, mouse, speakers.

Overclockers UK is good for the other stuff. But play.com isnt bad these days either.
