Dempsey anyone?

I still don't understand why the minute Americans post about their national team players it's all about us being American. Don't see anyone pointing out the Irish when they defend Coleman.

Give it a rest guys.

Its put me of him, not wanting to play for Fulham, he a professional and he should be doing his job, Lescott tried to pull this stunt with us and Moyes forced him and we let 6 goals in, Rodgers said he wanted him to the media, Fenway put a statement up saying they have signed him and now today we find out liverpool have not even put a bid in, must be waiting to ofload someone first.

I got about 5 posts into this thread and i thought to myself "i bet an American posts something in defence of Dempsey then someone replies saying they only said it because he's American".

And then a few posts later it happened, just so ridiculous really.

To be fair Kay it's understandable that American football fans -- many who are only Evertonians because of certain American players -- would have an allegiance and bias.

On the other hand said American fans are a hell of a lot more likely to watch and know these American players more. I'd take your opinion on Dempsey over most.

Personally I think it's both. I honestly think some of you American posters are more invested in these players and so have a wee bit of bias, but I also think you know a lot more about them.

All in all though, Clint Dempsey is too expensive, too old and seems to be a bad, bad bell.

I'm Irish living in America.
My first team would clearly be
-----------Howard--------
-----Mclaughlin----Duffy
Coleman--Gibson--Donovan
-----------Dempsey

I know Donovan is slightly out of position but I'm sure we'll be fine

Its extremely petty. Especially since Jol has never said "we're not selling him for any price". Jeez how hard was it going to be having to play for play for Fulham for I don't know 2 whole matches? Fulham has been pretty good to him so Clint and his agent conspire with Liverpool to try to get sold off at a cut rate price which is all this is about. Classy way to treat a team that helped you improve your game Lescott, uh I mean Clint. Its not that its Liverpool either, I even kind of defended him by saying why wouldn't he want to go there, they pay stupid wages and its his last big contract. Silly me. Fulham fans should be irate.

I'll completely admit to my rather large bias. I love Demps. Totally surprised by this. Doesn't seem to be in character.

*holds out hope there's more to the story, but prepares for disillusionment

I don't disagree with you really - anyone who also watches their players on their national team is going to be biased. It's just that it gets shoved in our faces all the time in particular and at a level that's a bit like we are retarded when it comes to judging our own players. (see the post that says we are annoying and rate any 'half decent' yank) I think this partially comes from the fact that there is still a thought that our players are not technical and are physical and hard working - the classic phrase, how can they be good? Stop giving them the benefit of the doubt! Note again, no one's like, is it because you're Irish? when people defend Coleman. That's my point.

It's just exhausting to see this type of comment put in every thread about every American player. That's all.

And by the way, now that we have Mirallas (I'm being optimistic), I also don't think we need Clint.

And by the way, I'm kinda surprised at his behavior here. To me, this is a bit out of character for Clint. But then again, when Clint wants something, he gets it. So, maybe not so out of character.

If you see his twitter, there's something brewing. He's been posting stuff on there he really shouldn't be.

sky sports say liverpool are not in for him or don't want him, maybe with Barkley going on loan and Cahill and Rodwell gone
Dempsey could be on his way to Everton:o

I honestly think we don't need him now. Wonder if he's now going out of England. With that said, I do think Dempsey > Naismith.

But he's still too expensive relative to what we have IF Mirallas goes through and Landon comes in January.
