For the past 18months hes received the ball and ignored better placed team mates to have a Bolasie moment in the sun.
Like with his goal against City that earned us a vital point? And is an example of him being one of a handful of Everton players in the last 10+ years who could actually produce a moment of brilliance like that? Or what about the Arsenal winner last minute, would you have preferred him to have shirked the chance for his moment in the sun and passed to a team mate?

We have a team full of players who do that constantly and it's one of the reasons why we are where we are. We need more like him who actually has some courage to try and attack the other teams goal. Instead we have a team full of cowards in an attacking sense and it produces very few shots on goal, or at least worthy shots on goal.

Scoring the occasional blammo is great and all, but his decision making on the whole is poor. I completely understand where Zat is coming from and agree with it. The amount of times Myko has been available on the overlap and Gray doesn’t pass to him and then loses it. Or when we are running 3 on 2 and instead of making the pass he runs into the man.

We are great at making players world class in our heads when they aren’t playing. But just go back through match threads or this thread, or come back here in a month and the frustration that he hasn’t made the pass will be abundantly clear.

He is our most dangerous player, but he could have so many more goals/assists if he used his head a bit more. (Which is why he didn’t make it at Leicester)

I think in the current team he's a better option than Maupay if we play just one up front. Granted he isn't a target man or centre forward but he was able to do a few quick turns centrally and at times spread the ball quickly enough to McNeil or Iwobi on Sunday.

Still loses the ball a lot as useful - but he's also less of a liability when he does that far up the pitch than on either flank if that makes sense.

Our options are all dire but agree with the comments that he at least causes issues for the opposition as they know he will at least attempt to attack and have a shot rather than just turn around and pass it backwards. To be fair although he is so slow Mc'Neil now does the same. Would rather see Gray on the pitch than our current alternatives.

Not sure what the correlation is with what i wrote?

Gray happened to score a goal or two after his selfishness caused attacks to break down week in week out over 18months?

I imagine there are non-league players who we could sign that could just take pot shots from 30 yards out with 1 in 20 going in.

He did well in his play against Forest apart from showing any competence or threat in open play.

I suspect we can get £8-10mil for Maupay and with a Gray sale that may stretch to a £20mil total.

Just enough to bring a competent young player from France in.

As you say, it has been eye opening to read about Mykolenko being poor going forward when Gray never passes the ball.

Must be a nightmare to play with him.

Good signing if we sell him we'll capture a profit.
