Delighted with the progress

We are much better than last season but we are still a long way off the consistent chance creation that the top 6 clubs have.

We create a lot through crosses, set pieces and shots from distance. To make the next step we need to also create in open play. Tbf I am sure Marco knows this!

Arsenal away is there only big test we'd had so far and although we didn't win, we created more than enough chances from open play to win, some sitters which go in 9 times out of 10 in that game

as I said I really don't think creating problems is the problem against teams like this ( more a problem against the crap team who just want to defend )

Pride cometh before a fall.

It certainly does but our form is merely a side piece to the fact we are playing much better at BOTH end of the pitch. It is not dull or suicidal. Added with the fact that the recruitment was miles better than in previous years and when you compare the squad to what we had definite progress has been made.

We will still lose games we should win and there will be panic aplenty on here but as long as we are not getting battered or continually losing we should have a reasonable season and a good springboard to get better players thereafter.

We’ll get battered once or twice this season (wouldn’t surprise me if it happens on Sunday) but the signs of improvement are there. We still struggle to break some teams down but at least Silva is aware of that and knows what he wants to do.

If we can get back to doing what we did under moyes, beating all the teams below us, and can add in a bit more nous and creativity against the big boys then who knows. We’ll not be in the top 4 this season though.

We should be cautious but optimistic.

The change in attitude and approach is like night and day, but there are still many hurdles ahead.

After such instability, let the club do its talking on the pitch and let Brands/Silva get on with it.

I think there is widespread support for them and whilst patience can be a brittle quality at times, most are accepting that it will be two steps forward and one step back for a while to come.

Brands seems impressive, it is early to judge but I do get the feeling that he is working with an ultimate target in mind and that is to have the club challenging at the top end and be fit for purpose for that goal at all levels.

That may take years but I'm happy to accept it, as long as they keep to the brief of methodical but constant improvement then we should not be limited in what can be achieved.

In a nutshell I want senior people at the club to want what I want and to have a plan to achieve it, rather than dried out clichés and platitudes. Let's hope they got it right finally with Brands/Silva.

Agreed, those sub's at weekend tells us how positive Silva is and defo rubbing off on most toffees. Not dreading watching Everton on the TV as much anymore either

We are making good progress and look better than we have for a good while. Only negative is the home loss in the league cup. Missed a good opportunity there.

Little early for this, with respect. Simply because in my opinion we could oh so quickly get back to negativity with a few losses.
Now, should we see positive signs in the NEXT run of games (and i don't automatically think points are the only barometer of such signs) then i'll really start to buy into Martinez mrk II.
With respect there's no need to denigrade him to that level, and hopefully there never will be as it would mean relegation battles in the future.

No, Silva is his own man with his own brand of football which doesn't involve pointless passing it death in our own half. He is also building a team which is resilient and has a good team spirit. Comparisons with former managers are well wide of the mark. It's time to get on the Silva bandwagon. It's going places.

Oh Mark

As was said Brands influence cannot be underestimated
For a supposedly attack minded coach like Silva to buy 3 defenders to slot into the back 4 means Brands was watching and decided what was needed

Something positive...I have to say that I’m delighted with our progress this season.

We seem more positive, on and off pitch, and considering how quickly that has happened after two horrendous years, and plenty of awful years before that, it’s pretty remarkable.

Yes, you can unpick the inner workings of the club - there’s lot to improve but I’m willing to let the billionaire learn from and resolve those - but this genuinely feels better and were it not for a few dropped points - against teams that are better than I gave them credit for - we’d be sitting very nicely just now.

Long may it continue Everton.
A happy post, you been on the mushrooms lad.
But I agree, it is positive
