Definite starters

Baines, Jagielka, Distin, Coleman and Mirallas are the only 'certainties' to start, as far as I can see.

Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Fellaini, Gibson, Mirallas, Howard are the definites. Anichebe has looked the best striker to me, though certainly not in the former group. Pienaar is probably still right there as well.

Oviedo and Naismith have been the best performers. Not seen anything that definitely improves last years team though. Team that played v west ham at home is still our best IMO.

That'll be what starts games, if we go 4 at the back. Our Starting XI last season was brilliant at times. The problem, IMO, came from catering to Fellaini more often than not, as well as being too defensive minded at times.

The fluidity we've seen from the side so far, could see the starting XI from last season flourish if it translates well to the Prem.

The natural subs in that scenario should be:

Barkley/Naismith for Osman
Deulofeu for Mirallas/Pienaar
Deulofeu for Osman (With Pienaar drifting centrally)
Kone for Jelavic

I think the definite starters will be Howard, Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Fellaini, Gibson and Mirallas. The other three spaces are up for grabs.

I'm not sure that there will be a strongest XI under Martinez. I think he'll play horses for courses. Oviedo and Naismith have had quite a lot of game time in pre-season, Joel has played as much as Howard and Stones has completed about as many minutes as Heitinga. Up front Anichebe, Jelavic, Kone and Vellios have all had a run out.
