2017/18 Davy Klaassen

just watching this spurs game, you see players like lloris, vertonghan, davies and dembele being key figures now when they all struggled to start with and took a while to make an impact. They've reaped the rewards for sticking by some of their players instead of bining them off after a bad debut season like united and chelsea seem to do.

I dont know much about BB, but Dowell and Davies anchoring a midfield three looks dodgy. Further up the pitch Id play the pair of them.

Well, Klassen isn't an anchor he's supposed to be an out and out CM. Help in defence, link and help attack.

Point was I think we've got more from the academy who have more in their locker for the league than Klassen

I think Klaassen was played like this in his best spell at Ajax and got all the plaudits from the likes of Cruyff for his distribution and protecting the ball:

I'm not suggesting he's the answer to our failings (and his) in that role, but as well as the obvious problems we've had elsewhere at CB and a surfeit of No.10s and lack of width and no attacker, the way we set up at CM needs looking at. Besides the usually reliable Gueye (effort wise) it is a mess. We've played with two holding m/fs for so long now it's almost taken for granted and it's getting us nowhere fast.

We need another way of making that area of the pitch work for us.

Is he? Leagues?

None of our players are leagues above any of our other players, apart from Pickford.

As a premier league player, I think Tom Davies is head and shoulders above Klaassen. They play different roles, but Davies is stronger, quicker, better in possession. Klaassen has been so poor that he's been dragged off at half time every game he's started.

Take into account it's a less physical league, from what I've read/saw the two next to him were ball carriers and creators, pacy, and possession based.

We don't play like that and I think he doesn't have the other attributes to his game to fit our side

I honestly think Koeman bought him as an upgrade on Davies with added goals. Can't see it in this league

I cant either. I'm trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

Personally, I'd given him run outs in the remaining EL games because it's gone anyway and its a waste of time even when it wasn't gone. That and last few minutes on the pitch to (hopefully) see games out, as he is a player who can do a bit of closing down and defensive work from what I've seen.

Then try and recoup as much as possible in January.

The more I think about it, the more I’m
convinced that Dav’s gashness (or the decision to sign him) is the key reason the summer went wrong. I think that when Swansea put the ridiculous price on Sig we signed Davy instead.
After he’d been here a while the coaching team clocked he wasn’t all that and the decision to go all in for Sig was made. Hence we wasted weeks of negotiations on another 10 when we should have been bagging strikers

We seem to have a lot like him. The only thing he brings is his attacking threat but we haven't seen much of that.

My problem with him is that he seems very slow. You have to be some player to make up for that playing his position and I just can't see it as much as I want to.

Very good on FIFA. Scores tons of headers but I play with wingers either side and Rooney up front.
