..what I notice is that he virtually plays instant passes. Almost one touch football. Loved the pass he provided to Rooney on the stroke of half-time in the home game against Split and I think he gave the pass from which DCL scored in the round before.

There is certainly quality in his game, it's just finding the right fit. Players look right if they dovetail into a system that suits. I assume RK had a system in mind when he bought these footballers.

Because he is frightened of having the ball.

Truly great passers - like Iniesta was - would do a lot of one touch 'instant passing'. But they also knew how to turn and hold onto the ball. To be honest, even several tiers below, Pienaar could do it.

By absolutely no means am I saying he should be on Iniesta's level but for £25m I had hoped he'd be nearly on Pienaar's.

..not sure if it's an Ajax thing but it does take some intelligence to play like that. I think it's just the way he plays. I noticed it last season, he moves the ball really quickly.

With how slow and crap our team is, we could do with him holding onto the ball until they lumber up the pitch a bit.

Pity his one touch passes all went backwards yesterday - Baines must have been sick of those 50-50 one touch passes!

Exactly.

Not saying he's a coward but I've not seen him once just hold on to the ball, move down the pitch with it.

There's times to play quick and times to hold it.

...yes, it's part of the problem when you play with a lack of tempo and organisation. It can be slick and effective or it can be slow and ineffective.
Well he is slow flat footed klassen I have christened him - hope he comes good he needs time , but for those who thought barkley was wanting this guy is not fit to lace his boots at the present moment in time - I hope he adapts , but he looks to be way off the pace needs subs appearances imo to blend him into the prem - no where near as good as even tom davies atm!

..the transfer values support your view, Joey. £23m for Klaassen, £35m for Barkley with only 12 months left on his contract. I think they are different types and think a better comparison will be Vlasic and Barkley.

Ah Ross - if we had handled it correctly is worth 50 million and Klassen was imo overpriced he needs a lot of time to adjust - still hope he can make it I am sure he will!
needs to start from the bench!

..you still clearly feel it's the club and Ronald Koeman's fault that Barkley wants to leave, and even then that we should've got £50m for him.

Rubbish, Koeman has been on the record for several months about Rooney. Since when has Bill ever interfered in who the manager signs/plays?!
I wasn't suggesting Bill has a role in team selection but clearly he does in signings hence Koeman being on vacation golfing in Portugal in the last week of the window. However I would still maintain that Rooney aged 31 is not in the mold of a Koeman Walsh signing and smacks of the theatrical great narrative Bill loves.

Has he got any pace we have signed a on par championship player - he needs time to bed in off the bench!

I get that it's only a few games and he needs to settle. But I've said for weeks he's shown very little in terms of attributes. Can't win the ball, limited passing range, can't beat a man, not quick.

Unless he suddenly turns into something special, I can't really see what he provides the side.
