I think some people are looking for all the negatives without highlighting the positives. There is a reason he was voted MOTM by several papers; he was fantastic in the first half. Everything from his movement to speed of play was spot on. Yes, he became a non influential figure in the second half, but we brought Sandro on and the chemistry was quashed a little bit. It's too early to call anything on this signing as he has shown some real promise in some of these games. Judge him against league opposition before coming to a conclusion. He has been far from terrible.

Just Kongolo & Karsdorp I think.

You can buy Ajax captains for that price though. Recently Vertonghen (9 mil € + add-ons), Alderweireld (occasional captain 8 mil. €)

I think they recieved a lot more for Vertongen, Alderweireld and Vermaelen. You can only take Veltman for that price but he isn't good enough. If you want a player like Dolberg you'll have to pay 40mil. They don't need the money.

I based it on this (seems to be in line with most googled articles):

Jan Vertonghen Verdediger Tottenham Hotspur ( Engeland ) Zomer Transfer €12.000.000 ( €9 mln vast, €3 mln variabel ) [http://www.nu.nl/sport/2842928/ajax-en-tottenham-hotspur-akkoord-vertonghen.html]

Toby Alderweireld Verdediger Atlético Madrid

Spanje Zomer € 8.000.000 [http://www.voetbalzone.nl/doc.asp?uid=195457 ; they say 7]

Thomas Vermaelen Verdediger Arsenal FC (Engeland) € 12 miljoen [http://www.ajax.nl/streams/ajax-actueel/thomas-vermaelen-naar-arsenal.htm]

So the numbers are correct according to most sources.

Yep they can ask whatever number they want mate.

Passing soon after he gets it.

You never heard of "La Pausa"?

The best playmakers all had/have that: the ability to hold and hold until the movement ahead is in place for the killer pass.

To do that you have to be able to screen and/or ride a challenge to maintain possession. Klaassen hasn't got it.

Arteta was amazing at this. Watching him spin away from defenders was just ace. Miss him so much.

Ajax always need the money.

I don't think anyone is knocking this signing. @orly has been one of the most negative but I think he's waiting to 'see something' from Klaassen as at the moment we've seen a couple of passes and then runs towards the box which James McCarthy could have done.

I've seen this boy play a fair amount for Ajax and to be honest it's going to take a lot to step up to the league where he will get no time and no space. Also, playing with Gana and Schneiderlin he wont be the one to act as a creative outlet. Klaassen is just a team player who will play short quick passes to team mates and make runs into the box...he's not a 'wow' type player.

I'd have preferred Tielemans or someone who could have been our 'wow' type player...

@orly is WUM'ing. He has decided to give Martina the benefit of the doubt but have a go at Klaassen from day one. It's as transparent a wind-up as you will ever see and some others have got that and are playing along and others have been swept up in the nonsense.

I agree. Prices right now are determined by the market at points in time.

Btw I think your name means "nothing is the best" !! Nisi means "but". Lol

It's intentional dropping the Nisi, mainly because of gaming tags and character size, it's used across many platforms and forums so I have continued using. 10 games league in we should see Klasssen to start to adjust.

Honestly don't think we need or even want a 'wow' type player. Barkley was a 'wow' type player. Unfortunately most weeks it was 'wow, he did nothing today'.

I think the aim is a team of players that all put a shift in, are consistent and an array of forward players who are productive in the final third. We are on the way to that.

Wouldn't you fancy a Zidane?
