2017/18 Davy Klaassen

He has cost a lot of money , is on a large wage and we have seen in January he won't be moved on easily.
He will have spent a year at Everton and will have settled and just maybe a new manager may have a different vision for him.
At this stage it is worth waiting to see what happens.
Given that we are playing poorly as a team he must be considered unlucky not to at least be given a chance to prove he isn't good enough.

“At the moment Davy Klaassen comes in and trains as best as he possibly can and does all what he can on a regular basis,” Allardyce said in the Liverpool Echo.

“He's not a sulker, he tries his hardest every time he comes into training but at the moment we see what we see, and we see the qualities of the players and haven't quite seen that in Davy to encourage us to put him in.

He's got big competition and that big competition is something you have to accept and try and improve. So, if you do get the chance then you take that opportunity.

“Maybe somewhere down the line we will give him an opportunity.”

In other words :

He runs around a lot, but he`s a bit crap and unless half the team is injured, he`s got no chance of ever playing.

That`s really going to motivate him, isn`t it lollollol

Allardyce to a tee isn't it. Sniderlame has had an appalling season and has a history of taking the pee in training and puts virtually no effort in every match he plays and looks completely uninterested in Everton and is named in pretty much every squad. Klaassen on the other hand puts a lot of effort into training and has champions league and Captain experience and needs game time to get better in the premier league and cannot get anywhere near the squad. Nothing to do with the fact that Sniderlame is defensive and that we have an absolute muppet of a Manager who is on borrowed time.

I like this bit as well:

" we see the qualities of the players and haven't quite seen that in Davy to encourage us to put him in."

That really means 'The other players are absolutely gash, just not as gash as Klaassen though'

Played in a midfield 3 anchor role, got box to box. Had other players around him as creative playmakers.

Only if the pitch was this big!

Last season he played on the right side of a three-man midfield. Rarely played as a 10.

Ajax officially doesn't have a 10 anymore. Just a deep lying midfielder (to quote fm) and two central midfielders. Klaassen played in both roles, but mostly as central midfielder. His tendency is to play as much forward as possible for a midfielder. So while he officially didn't play as a 10, you can certainly say that he was one in practice. Not a creative 10 but an "inside forward" by the way.

Harsh words by Allardyce, how do you ever expect to sell him if you basically declare that he is utterly pointless? However, I kind of understand what he means. People point toward his goal totals, which is fine, but understand that that is one of his few redeeming qualities and that furthermore he was pretty much average of slightly above average in a much weaker league.

I would like to see Davy turning things around at Everton, but realistically I think he should move on to smaller club a less demanding league.
