Or it was obvious that two of our players were exposed as two rather petulant and petty characters. Thankfully one has gone and the other will doubtless follow him at the end of the season.
Another salient point here is the situation that arose because of the utter ineptitude of the board. They peremptorily sacked a manager while apparently having little clue what to do next. Having then seemingly decided to give Unsworth an extended try out , they should have actually had the guts to appoint him as coach officially and reinforced his authority. This needn’t have precluded relieving him at a future date if necessary.
It keeps coming back to the same point. No top manager had any interest in taking us on.Unsworth had an arguably easier run of fixtures than Allardyce has recently been through and if we hadn't had that present from Cleverley our position would have been worse.

And one of said players had also had problems with Martinez and possibly Koeman as well.

Off pitch the club is stable, our recent model has seen us bring in a fair amount of money through player sales after bringing on young players picked from PL academy's and reserve set up's.

Players like Kemar Roofe, Marvin Johnson & ex Everton John Lundstrum all netting around 6 million.

That model was scrapped under our Ex boss Ex Leeds coach, Pep Clotet. Who seemed intent on bringing any random overseas players linked to ex clubs of his.

Derek Fazackerley Is in charge now and it's pretty obvious he and Clotet fell out over the players our ex gaffer got in and it's him who is working on the new players and shifting out some of the dead wood left behind.

Still he's got the bullet and now we are once again going back to our old network of bringing in youngsters. Recently signed 2 promising Man City lads till the end of the season with views to a permanent fanfares.

All this links us back to Unsworth and why, for me, he'd make a cracking fit for Oxford.

We are very well respected by clubs higher up the chain when It comes to the development of young players. So Unsworth would only improve those links being as well respected with you as he is.

P.S - Got any spare young lads who will be up for a move? Ledson is still friends with a few of your youth set up and is often back in Liverpool so he can put in a good word!
Thanks for the info. Based on that I'd say it would be a really good fit for you. Regarding Ledson I think he'd stagnated a bit and the club had quite a few youngsters behind him for the central midfield role that they thought were better than him. I think they were right and it was the best decision for him to move on. Ignore the stuff about Unsworth being a disaster while in charge for us, it's not the case, morale was rock bottom the team had no shape or pattern of play, no one knew the best 11 and he had to contend with two games a week and little time for coaching. On top of this the gutless board didn't put him in charge until the end of season and undermined his authority in the process. I think he'll be a cracking appointment for you and I rate him highly.

Completely agree and have said the exact same thing myself. There was no downside to naming him as manager until the end of season and a very good reason to do so. As you said they could have still relieved him of the job at a future date if they wanted to. Sums up the shambolic way the club is being run.

Interesting comments and he's due in Ox tomorrow or Tuesday for talks apparently. On a separate note. You may enjoy this from yesterday. Ledson bagged a 94th minute winner.

lol lol lol Let’s hope the talks go well, I’m sure he’ll get on fine with Ledson.

Hopefully the Oxford players respect him more than our disgrace of a first team did. He’s clearly a good coach as he’s kept that U-23 team winning against far better resources sides.
