David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

I am astonished that he has been hung out to dry to such an extent by the board, their treatment of him is despicable. He may not be the man for the job, but he's had absolutely no encouragement or support from on high so it's little wonder that he seemingly commands such little respect from the players.

If any of us was asked to take temporary charge in whatever our field of work, with a hint that we could have the job permanently, while simultaneously seeing the job advertised all over the place how would we react, let alone perform? This is squarely at the door of our charmless, clueless leaders and they now need to get the house in order pronto, before this big blip becomes a fully grown crisis. It doesn't matter whether it's Dyche, Sam or any other name. I feel for Unsworth, the club have shown him no respect and for once I don't blame Bill.

Why not? He's as culpable as anyone. In fact, I think he'll have been the one genuinely thinking Unsworth could see us through all of this. A truly shocking error of judgement.

Im just depressed very depressed. This teams goose is well and truly cooked. We are screwed.Unsy is just way out of his depth. This club right now is in it's worst state since December 1993.Jesus we've actually gotten worse under Unsy.We have been making bad decision after bad decision.Spending 140 million pounds on rubbish.Letting Rom leave without securing a replacement.Sacking Koeman with no replacement organised.Leaving Unsy in charge of the first team, and leaving him drown in the ocean for the last month. If we get relegated it will be what we deserve.

When you make decisions of the sheer scale of incompetence and stupidity, that we do.Then you deserve to get punished for that.Too many of us were happy enough with total and utter mediocrity, for the past 30 years.Well the chickens are well and truly coming home to roost now.We got the football club that we deserve.Im sorry for the rant but i think im not the only one, who feels the need to let off some steam.Of course im sure some mediocre journeyman manager, like Martin O'Neill will arrive in a couple of days.

We might finish around 14th or 15th come the end of the season. But you know something it won't mean anything, in the grand scheme of things. After all the hope we had.All the talk of this being a new era for Everton. We are as far off being amongst the elite of football as we ever were. This club has turned into a total and utter jokeshop, since Mosihri darkened our doorstep.

fair point. I suppose when he was asked to take temporary charge, (l o l) he couldnt really come out with anything else though.

This is half of the stitch up. How could Unsworth have said “no chance”? Imagine what the fans would have thought?

He’s had no chance here, and the club have hung him out to dry.

I am quite shocked by how poor he has done though, even with such a poor form team.

It’s almost inexplicable how game after game we are getting smashed so badly.

Something dodgy is going on at the club and the usual Everton wall of silence is deafening.

Interesting.

Of that group, they've promoted DCL, Davies and Kenny to the first team. None of them have played well consistently and it is clear Kenny and DCL are nowhere near good
enough.

Many of the lads on loan are doing ok, not amazingly. The Ormskirk Ozil is doing well but then he is the exceptional player of his age group, sadly though we have bought a lot of rot in his position.

Others have already been sent back to us.

So other than one egg and spoon competition and not producing players suitable for the first team, do you think we may be overpraising his achievements?
Don't be so quick to rush to judgement on DLC and Kenny. They have come into a right horlicks of a team with the senior players offering no assistance. Unfortunately not many players make it through the ranks. I think Everton U23 under Unsworth was performing well enough to say he was a success at that level.

Mind you, if Unsworth is ambitious, he needs to coach and manage more than just the U23s. As you point out it ain't a gauge of success that can be used to back a candidate into being the full time first team manager.

When he knows it’s his last game, I want him to come out in the post match presser (when we’ve been beat of course) and namedrop all the rotten apples on and off the pitch with a massive smile on his face as he walks off camera cackling

Honestly, best possible thing that could happen. This downward trajectory the club is freefalling into is so saddening. I’d like a bit of transparency now. It would show some respect to the great supporters of this club.

Indeed, Mugins.

There is deffo a stench of dodgy goings on at the club.

I think the way the situation has been handled over the last 5 weeks is more of a problem than anything else my friend. To place a caretaker in charge for such a length of time while letting rumours abound about a new manager is a recipe for disaster in any environment and i don't blame Bill for that, it's not his style and I am no apologist for him.

He'll never do that to the club he loves and we love... cut him open he's blue through and through...

I wanted him to be good enough. It is apparent he is not or not ready quite yet for this level.

He also deserves better than the he is getting from the players.

This has to be killing him.

I think the thing that worries me about both of them is that usually, when a youngsters comes through and makes it, they can usually do one area exceptionally well (score goals, hold the ball up, tackle / block well) and are rusty in other areas that get improved over time. You've got an extreme version like Lukaku, but also players like Stones, Hibbert, from other clubs like Martial, Rashford, Lampard, this sort of thing. I've pitched these too high probably but generally that's the principle. With DCL and Kenny, certainly more with the former, I just do not see what he does well. Not one area.

Sums us up.
