I always thought that when you were on a bad run one of the first things you did was to make yourself difficult to beat. Irrespective of team selection and player performance our tactics should be based on this until we hopefully start to turn things around. The best defensive performance I have seen this season was against Man City. I know they had Walker sent off just before half time, but even before then we didn't look overly troubled. In that game we played 3 at the back and 5 across midfield. We played a deep defence and our midfield 5 were essentially defenders, ball winners and grafters - Baines, Schneiderlin, Gueye, Davies and Holgate. We had Rooney and Calvert-Lewin up front. For the time being I think this is the type of formation we should be going for, particularly away from home. The individual players can be changed around based on performance (e.g. Niasse for Calvert-Lewin, Beningime for Schneiderlin maybe), but we can't go on playing a flat back 4 with the personnel we have at the moment.

Kenny has a number of mistakes in him, that have lead to opportunities
Benni has played good
Vlasic maybe highly rated but he’s played about 100 minutes; Lookman is massively over rated by our fan base. Lennon has offered more support to Kenny since coming back in

If you were going to pick
1 Defensive midfielder
1 Box to box midfielder
2 wide players
1 Attacking central midfielder

Who would you pick?

That moment when Joe came down to the bench was excruciatingly embarrassing for Unsworth. Symbolic of his time “in charge”.

Really looked like a kid needing his dad then.

I love Big Joe, nor should he need to be put in such a position either. Unsworth needs to be put out of his misery and let Joe get on with enjoying his retirement.

I think the main problem here is that Williams and Schneiderlin (more than most) are complete liabilities and have gotten worse game by game this season.

One strange thing for me was dropping Holgate. He does give away 1 chance per game...the rest give away chances all game.
