David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

Atalanta hadn't won an away game all season.

Must have been a titanic mental struggle for their manager to outwit Unsy.

'We're going to go wide at every opportunity mate, let us show you for the first 20 mins'

'Oh no problem I'll put Klaassen / Martina out there, oh whoops, why don't I take off Mirallas and put an inexperienced centrehalf as a full back'

Utter weapon

Honestly?

Right now I would accept virtually anyone to Unsworth even previously totally unpalatable but perhaps pragmatic choices.

I can remember our very worst seasons in the 90s and just how bad and how close to relegation we came. Right now i think sticking with Unsworth until January or even worse the summer, and it could get very close if we're lucky and much more likely even worse.

We do have players to come back who will help, and it's still just about possible to think things can get better, but if they return to a team extremely short on confidence, seriously on the slide, devoid of any pace, organisation or idea and led by a novice so completely out of his depth its painful to see, then yes it could be even worse.

I always said Silva or Dyche and to not approach the Burnley manager earlier, even as back-up is criminal, he is limited but he miraculously even gets Keane playing like a prem footballer and organises very average players into a competent unit, he's exactly what we need now.

Unsworth has [Poor language removed] to play for him but is completely clueless both in his selections and the formations he has them playing in.

Any more of him could see us in very serious trouble indeed and lucky to be able to attract even the eighth, ninth or tenth choices on any list we may just be able to make later in the season.

We need him to go back to the under23s now, not in the summer, not in January, not in another one or two games but now, right now
Unsworth is a symptom of a much bigger malaise. And that’s bad news.

Unsworth really isn't the answer but we knew that before tonight anyway. Like many I thought he would get us organised and keep the seat warm for an incoming manager but it's all got to the point now where this is bordering gross negligence by the board.

Unsworth is going to have to take his share of the blame for recent results but in reality some of those lads putting on our shirt should be embarrassed to pick up their wages this week. Disgusting attitude from top to bottom.

Theres no respect for the fella, hes one of the boys. Unbelievable tactics, not once as he put a good starting line up out.

Massively out of his depth, none of this high pressing high tempo bollocks he talked about

We don't even have close to a side capable of ''high'' anything. We are full of slugs who don't want to take responsibility for what happens on the pitch. Too many hiding and then looking at each other gormless when we concede another cheap goal.

Chuffed for Rhino - he's earned his shot in the big chair. I hope he gets more than a game or two to show what he can do with the current squad. If he can instill the confidence in the squad and get the right selections, we could see massive improvements over what we have seen this season. Although we could recruit externally, I do hope he is given suitable time to show if he is ready for it or not. Even if we bring in an experienced manager, it would be good to see him as No.2 with the new manager mentoring him to gain the required experience. If we are to have a Blue in the big chair, Unsworth is really the only viable option. Best of luck Rhino ;)

The state of you lot. Attacking anyone who is showing any amount of positivity regarding the performance last night.

We sacked Koeman on Monday - Unsworth had limited time to work with the squad. One training session on Tuesday morning before they travelled to London. One.

He made some big decisions to drop some big names and to bring in players who had been frozen out by Koeman and a start for Beni who has never played for the first team.

What we got, in the limited time he had with the squad, was a shape to the squad - remember that? Shape? Yes, something that has been totally missing this season. Playing players in their correct positions, not playing square pegs in round holes just to shame the board for failing to get a striker.

We got a certain amount of team spirit - players working for eachother. Remember that? Team spirit? We haven't seen that for a while either. A team that was angry at the defeat, not trundling off the pitch not really giving a toss. We saw a positive improvement in the players and the way they played - in the limited time Unsworth and his staff had. What exactly is wrong with being happy with that improvement? We lost and went out of the cup - with the way the season has gone, did anyone expect anything different?

Anyone who is expecting a top manager to walk in through the door and immediately have us winning games week in week out is seriously deluded and needs to give their head a wobble. The squad have been playing....whatever kind of system Koeman had in his head - and I still can't fiigure out what his gameplan was. The mess he left behind of frustrated players, low on confidence and spirit will take time to reverse. This has set the "project" back at least a year.

No, we're not "happy clappers", we're not "celebrating mediocrity" - we're simply happy acknowledging players responding to a change in management and coaching staff. To see the players actually playing for the fans for a change, to see us showing a bit of fight. Nothing wrong with that.

life sure comes at u fast buddies.

If we end up with Unsworth til the end of the season then it's another calamity from the board.

Doesn’t have a clue at this level.

No ideas how to fix our problems or stabilise us.

The lights are on but nobody is home. Sad to see.

Someone put a rocket up our incompetent Board to get an actual manager in.

It’s the only way we’ll move forward
