David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

He was expected to win in 6 days away when the last overpaid Prima Donna has not won away since last January!
Spot on
He has had 6 days to try and change things, and guess what not much has changed.
This isn't down to Unsworth this is down to the complete mess RK left behind, Unsworth at best can try and steady the boat.
I will give him credit in trying to try different formations, at least he is trying to find a fix albeit short term.

He has a thankless task, but whoever we get in would have the same problem

No magic fix here

The legacy of Koeman will haunt us for a long time to come.
Any manager is going to struggle with this lot.
So few quality defenders, so few attacking options of any quality.
Loads of similar midfielders.

I do not care who you are, you can be SAF or Pep, it doesn't matter with what there is here.

There is no way Unsy will be given the next transfer kitty, but whoever it is needs to be shrewd and act fast.

I have said all over this forum, our squad is incapable of stopping leaking goals against Prem teams.
(Yes I know about Stoke, but if we played them next week...) Today was prime.
I am not blaming Unsy, but he will need to find a way to plug the holes with the dross he has at his disposal.
I hope he sends Ron a thank you letter.

Although this isn't unsworth fault he didn't do any favours today neither.

Picking the old guard and the under 23s in a strange mix was what cost us this week. Where was vlasic? Why isn't niasse starting? Siggurdson (created the most chances this season so far) on the bench, replacing both wingers at the same time for some reason etc.

I'll call it for what it is, that was poor management from unsworth at this level. You don't take a team in crisis and dramatically change it half way through a game and expect a positive reaction.

To be fair Mirallas and Lennon were probably are best performers and then got strangely subbed at half time. Didn't make much sense.
Agree his mistake was not playing a defensive midfielder in front of the back four which left us exposed.

For the time being the defence needs maximum protection until either injuries or the transfer window provides options.

Appreciate Schneiderlin has been rank but either him or bangimine needed to start at the expense of Rooney or Calvert Lewin. The wingers weren't the problem it was central midfield being wide open again same every week.

Unless we get any sense of control of the midfield in the middle of the park, we are going to struggle.
As it is this season, any combination of midfield partnerships haven't offered enough defensively to protect our back 4, likewise they haven't offered enough either offensively to create chances. Therefore what does our central midfield offer currently?

Personally I think we need to start by making us hard to beat currently we are the opposite. We are so easy to play through.

The defence has no pace so we have to sit deep & screen the back four. Most premier league teams outside the top 6 will try & get through this by hitting high balls into the box, Keane made the most headed defensive clearances in the league last season so perhaps we can begin to Keep clean sheets.

Stoke, West Brom Watford all tend to have strikers that break double figures but not by much so whilst going more defensive seems a backward step it will stabilise us.

Put 3 of Schneiderlin, beni, gueye, Davies in the middle with two of Lennon, vlasic, lookman, mirallas wide with Rooney or Calvert Lewin up top.

Teams scraping for there lives don't play number tens.
