David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

No precisely because they are from other clubs. The value he brings is an understanding of the players we have, the culture of the club, and the expectations of the fans. Plus the man knows football. I mean even if you don't want him, you can't argue he doesn't know what he's doing.
Or because nobody is remotely bothered about winning trophies in the reserves.

I've heard lots say everton are all about passion, effort, commitment and intensity. And yeah I'd hope we are. Cause that's the utter bare minimum. We need to be a winning team bottom line. We need quality and we don't have any. We love tacklers and runners at this club yet [Poor language removed] off our 25 goal a season striker.

Mentality has to change. We are a club with no soul who have completely lost its way.

Don't blame me for selling Lukaku. I had hardly any input into that decision.

haha good old Luke Moran.

Well they were...two tough losses but should be ok. They'll break my heart just like Everton do though. It's sort of a comforting feeling knowing it'll all go tits up at some point.
I backed them last week, stayed up until 5am watching them, only to lose in the most Everton way possible against Oakland.

Anyway, back on topic.

Moyes out.

I think the players will trump everyone on this. It's basically a footballers worker cooperative at Finch Farm now.

Also when things get tough, it's going to be a lot harder for any changing room ringleaders to cause a mutiny/downing tools on someone vertically integrated at the club vs some outside mercenary ego who has no affiliation to us.

Pretty sure we've seen this happen twice in the last 2 years.

Not directed at you, just a general point. Evertonians love the wrong players usually. And love to run our best players into the ground. Weird weird times.

Selling him was the LAST thing I wanted trust me. I was on record as saying we should have even run his contract down if we had to. His value to us was greater than any dollar amount because I knew we couldn't replace him. having a billion dollars doesn't matter if they players you can buy for a billion don't want to come.

That's an excellent point Sy. Ironically you may get the disciplined chain of command with Unsy specifically because no one will want him to fail, and won't challenge his authority.

Reactions: Sy-
Koeman ticked all the boxes mate and he failed miserably. Can we just sod off the boxes for second and think about who the right MAN is for the job, not just the CV?

Erm no, because I'm more of a fan of meritocracy than nepotism.

Fact is he hasn't managed a team of first team professionals in his life and the Premier League is a big step up from the Premier League 2.

We didn't look entirely hopeless for a single half of football but that and winning the league with U23s isn't enough to convince me. If it is for you that is sound but he isn't the most qualified MAN for the job at the moment.

If we can't attract a Tuchel or someone of a similar pedigree of actually winning trophies with senior players then I would not be opposed to having Unsworth be moved into the job. I just don't agree with people seeing him as first choice right now.

That not Nil Satis Nisi Optimum to me.

My question is what will be the basis of evaluating Unsworth's performance? If at the end of the season the results are mixed- say a mid table finish- is it enough to simply say he did well with what he had and therefore should be given the position permanently?

My fear is he's a quick fix now because the players support him, but he might not be the long term answer.

If we bring in Tuchel mid-season he's managing a squad full of someone else's players. Does Tuchel have ANY experience taking over a team in mid-season and having success? There's a reason guys like Pulis and Allerdyce kept getting hired, because they knew how to do it.

Tuchel is just as big if not a bigger risk than Unsworth at this point. He knows absolutely nothing about any of our players. How long do you think it would take him to get up to speed, when he's never managed in the Prem in his life, and speaks English as a second language?

Baines. Jags.
Only my opinion, based on nothing.

Honestly if you're going to bring someone in from the outside, it's ok if you wait until the summer. In my opinion, that's when you do it.

Yep. That's the way I see it.

As said: we are one 'wrong face' appointment away from oblivion.
