David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

Honestly its unrealistic for us to suddenly start playing brilliantly. Our confidence is shattered and the players had no idea how to play under Koeman. What i've seen so far is players putting in a real shift (with a couple of exceptions), better energy and much better spirit. What i've also seen is poor defending and nervousness in large part caused by a lack of confidence and lack of organisation that we had under Koeman. I posted before we even started playing these 4 games that Unsworth would need some time to work with the players and that he really didn't have much in between the 4 games. He's done a pretty decent job in my opinion with what he was left with. I would like to see us give him more time rather than panic and get Dyche or (god forbid) Sam Allardyce in.

By the way anyone know the last time we came from 2 down at home to win in the league?

2015 against WBA away

Southampton are the only team he’s managed mate.
And if you think he had no say in any signings ever then you’re wrong.

But the point is we don’t know how Unsworth would do in a transfer window. It’s not even a bad thing. It’s just a comment.
Fair enough, and he may have had a say at Southampton but its Les Reed in charge. Big difference to Everton where Koeman was in charge.

No we didn't because Les Reed signs the players for Southampton so we had no clue about how he would perform and let's face it his signings were disastrous. Williams, Schneiderlin, Klaasen, Siggurdson, Rooney, Bolassie. Keane looks overpriced at minute but could still come good. Pickford looks decent as does Vlassic, Sandro could still come good and with a £5 million fee we won't lose any money. In short we've wasted one hell of a lot and frankly i think you would be hard pressed to do worse!
All those signings were obviously just to make him look good for a couple of seasons before he moved on because with their ages that would be all we would get.

What was even worse was even though it was bloody obvious no one stopped him from doing so and kept pandering to him. We could really do with the money spunked on Bolasie, Schneiderlin and Siggurdson

Around about the same time we last won at the top 4 away.

Again, it’s not really about Koeman mate.
Just giving that as a comparison to your point about not knowing what Unsworth would do in the transfer market. We obviously don't know how Unsworth would do but the point remains I think Walsh should be the person who makes the decisions in the January window and we do know what he can do.

I would be a lot more supportive of him if he stuck to the principles he deployed in his first game.

Width and pace.

He appears to have learnt nothing from the Koeman era of playing no tens everywhere.

Any manager that plays two of Lookman/Lennon/Kev/Vlasic on the wings and DCL/Oumar up top will get points. It's not rocket science right now.

The team he put out against Leicester, Lyon and today were mind boggling.

He keeps going from wingers to no wingers and for me appears uncomfortable at this level.

Simply can't understand the treatment of Vlasic either.

DOF gives the manager his choice of players the manager chooses them - Koeman chose 3 no 10s!

Unsworth took over under terrible circumstances with a team devoid of any spirit let alone a class striker. I don't expect him to turn Niasse into Eto or DCL into Kane in 2 games, but it seems any less and he is rubbish. He got a result and given time he could do it more often and gain the experience to go along with his managerial talents... he didn't turn the u23s into league champions overnight .. give the guy a chance!

No

He’s had as many matches as training sessions almost. unfair to judge him without giving him actual time to work with the squad in my opinion
