David Unsworth appreciation thread

If Unsworth does get the job till, say, the end of November and is doing reasonably well, ie out of the relegation area and moving up the table, I see no reason not to run with him to the end of the season and look at it again then. The only downer then would be if the board do bring in a "name" then I think Unsy would leave. IMHO.

problem with that is all these inbreds and auld arses on here and in the stands will get on his back if we lose a game. God help him if we lose the derby "Wotz e got on is CV do, go get Guardiola, show some ambition blueeeez"

No he's not. Everyone with half a brain cell in their heads knows this mess is not his doing, and he will be afforded the benefit of the doubt.

I would disagree with that four thumpings and people would want him out, where is Waggy now and he kept us up.

My own two sense i dont think he is what we need long term and for his sake i wouldnt want us to go down the Craig Shaksphere route.

He also had messi Ronaldinho Henry xavi and iniesta
And the first thing he did was get rid of Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Deco (IIRC?) as well as a few others and it was a massive gamble to even hire him as he was the B team coach, which was my point.
Are we comparing Unsworth and Everton to Pep and Barcelona - my god
Yes mate, defo not just the situation of appointing a B-team coach full time.
Not sure what Lazio has to do with Everton.
See above and think before jumping the gun, like. @polish was saying the same - Inter, Barca et al can take this apparently 'massive gamble', but we can't apparently, as we're too big for this kind of thing.

Kept Eto'o on for his first season mate but yes, first thing he did was pot Ronny and Deco.

Nah but mate, loads of people think it was luck so it must have been.

Yeah just going off memory here tbh, knew he instantly removed Ronaldinho and got a bit of a backlash for that (despite 'Dinho not having a good last two seasons due to injuries and drinking, he was still a force).

I think Guardiola is the greatest coach in the world. I just think it's very silly to compare our situation to anything that ever went on at Barcelona.
So, in our current situation, and if he does well enough - we can't give Rhino a chance because there's clearly no indication of him being a good coach, despite the U23's winning AOTS and smashing everyone?

Yes mate. Totes ridic on my part, sorry.

Let's see how he does. But he would need a number of wins, and more importantly a clear style and method of play which looks sustainable and gives room for players to improve. That's asking a lot and I think we should be looking for top managers not putting all our eggs in an Unsworth shaped basket.

Well it is a big basket at least.

We might as well give him a shot though?

I hate this term! Who would you say would come in who is a "top manager" and prove a success?

Why can't we try something different? koeman was apparently a "top manager" and that didnt work did it.
Lets build something, lets not all panic and go from manager to manager until we end up like West Ham, lets go against the grain, we dont have the money to compete with city and chelsea or the stature and pull that the likes of Utd, Arsenal or even liverpool have.
We need to start from the ground up, make us a unique thing and not just another team slogging along wishing we were better
