David Moyes

Sunderland were beyond saving, they improved their squad by buying in players not good enough for one of the worst squads in Everton’s prem history.

I’d be confident of winning enough games at home and getting to 40 points with Moyes than with most other managers. He’s not the long term solution but as an interim fix to get out of this utter crap hole i’d do it.

He's made a string of stupid decisions regarding clubs to manage. It's not his strong suit. He was always going to fail at united. A Scot in Spain? And Sunderland were always getting relegated.

I know I know captain hindsight n all that.

I dont get the moyes hatred on got. For 11 odd years he did a good job with us with the budget of a championship team. Won manager of the year 3 times. Signed some brilliant players for half nothing with the profit on transfers probably keeping us afloat. Like it or not we would probably have been relegated if not for him.

But heres the thing....hes had a rough time sonce he left us...but that doesnt make him a worse manager..its experience that will make him better. Bring him back and give him some money to spend and he'll do well.

at the level we're at and faced with a choice of dyche, allardyce or moyes, I know who id pick and theres a good number of evertonians who'd agree

You did a good job David. But you stayed on a bit too long in the end.You treated us like we were Stoke and West Brom, and then you had your secret negotiations with Manchester United. Then when you went to Old Trafford and you made disparaging comments about us, and made derisory offers for our players.Your not wanted here David. You'll have to rebuild your shattered reputation and credibility as a manager some place else!

It does, actually. See also Alan Curbishley, George Burley, John Gregory and many more as examples of previously-talented managers who lost their mojo and never got it back.

So u dont like him because he talked to someone on the quiet about taking the united job???? One of the biggest jobs in world football...and like it or not thats the way football works with players and managers. Derisory offers? U think it was him deciding what to offer?

whats quite startling as well, is how many of our "1st" team players that are getting picked were Moyes signings, and two of our best players (Coleman and Barkley) could come back to save us as well. it's a sad sad situation that this had become a tangible thought. its just would we be getting the pre-Man-u Moyes or the post man u one. we don't have a striker so our best option is tight at the back, grind out the 1-0s win the home games. its something he did well and we never had a consistent striker in his tenure only Yakabu comes to mind as someone who would score consistently.

maybe Big Sam is a better option but i wouldn't want either of these more than a season and Sam wants a big contract. I don't honestly know anymore, just win Everton find a way

The point is that the managers you mentioned had one maybe two good years...moyes did it over 10 years

Did what for 10 years? He kept us 'best-of-the-rest' but failed in other areas. We expected more, but he could've done a lot worse (which he did, thankfully at other clubs). Curbishley had Charlton regular top 10 for a few years on the bounce, way above expectations.

David O'Leary is another one who springs to mind. Moyes is of that ilk: had a few years of good progressive work but reached his full potential without setting the world on fire, thereafter the only way is down.

David Moyes is not the answer anymore.

One thing moyesy done was concentrate on building us from the back, giving us a solid base which is how u build a structure and then gradually worked around that, both Bobby + koeman have ignored that trying 2 work front 2 back, middle to middle. once ur base starts 2 crumble so will the rest! And yes of course not having a goalscorer now doesn't really do wonders for the club. We don't just need a fancy name with a lovely sounding gameplan, we need someone who see's what we see and understands the project ahead!
