My worry is that I don’t see where
Moyes changes for next season.
Even if we buy a right back, unless it’s one of the top right backs in the PL (which it won’t be)
Moyes is going to continue to select OBrien at RB.
This means the CBs will continue to be
Tarkowski and JB and when JB gets injured, which he will it’s Keane.
Left back is one area we may make an upgrade but again we’d need to find a PL proven left back who is defensively excellent otherwise Moyes will play
Mykolenko.
He’s not dropping Garner or
KDH (obviously and fair enough). That means w have one midfield slot and if Gueye stays then why would Everton buy another player when we have
Rohl Iroegbunam Alcaraz Armstrong. Gueye will start whenever he’s fit, and even when he isn’t, so the midfield will stay the same.
If
Grealish is retained and
Ndiaye stays then Moyes will not touch the wide options. George and
Dibling will be getting off the bench on 70 mins each week if they’re lucky.
So the only position we may see a change in is upfront. But it absolutely wouldn’t surprise me if Everton did their usual thing of pursuing a completely out of reach striker all summer then claiming there was no value in the market and Moyes is happy with Beto and Barry.
I don’t see where the improvement to the team comes. There’d have to be a massively bold choice like dropping Tarkwoski
Mykolenko Gueye Beto and maybe not bringing back
Grealish, and I can’t see Moyes making any of them.
