2025/26 David Moyes

Totally agreed, Moyes is an old style very stubborn manager, who is totally stuck in his ways and does not like change. The way he has treated our younger lads is diabolical, Armstrong, Aznou, Rohl, Dibling for staters, he could easily have given them more game time. Having him in charge of us next season is not giving me any optimism at all.
Armstrong and Rohl should have got more minutes, but Dibling has looked not more than average to poor whenever he's been been on the pitch and except for a cameo running around like a headless chicken and getting a very dodgy penalty Aznou has shown nothing.

And so what. My opinion hasnt changed in 24 hours lol.
Its a decent squad that i think is prem top half.
Whats your point. If there is one.

My points have been quite clear from the off.

We will never win a trophy with Moyes as Manager.

Glasner is a far superior manager to Moyes.

Last season Glasner won them the FA Cup and also achieved a record total of points in the Premier League for Palace and yet you try to say him not getting top half as some sort of strange defence for Moyes.

Then you think it's a slur for me to say that Moyes inherited a Premier League winning team???? Why it's a slur only you can answer that.

Then you make up a story saying I disappear when we win, at least try and prove the point. I think we can class that as a slur

The thing is you will never know until you give them a chance and he will not do it. I can see where you are coming from but they deserve some minutes.

By that logic I could roll up at the training ground and insist however bad I look that nobody knows till I'm given a chance. Facetious yes but the point is that some things can be seen without minutes.

I definitely agree that the likes of Armstrong, Rohl and maybe Dibling should be getting more minutes when we see the consistent inadequacies of Moyes' preferred 11 but Aznou looked like an absolute liability on his limited showing. People got giddy over his attacking intent but he hugely struggled with the physical side of things and that can be seen without minutes on the pitch.

My worry is that I don’t see where Moyes changes for next season.

Even if we buy a right back, unless it’s one of the top right backs in the PL (which it won’t be) Moyes is going to continue to select OBrien at RB.

This means the CBs will continue to be Tarkowski and JB and when JB gets injured, which he will it’s Keane.

Left back is one area we may make an upgrade but again we’d need to find a PL proven left back who is defensively excellent otherwise Moyes will play Mykolenko.

He’s not dropping Garner or KDH (obviously and fair enough). That means w have one midfield slot and if Gueye stays then why would Everton buy another player when we have Rohl Iroegbunam Alcaraz Armstrong. Gueye will start whenever he’s fit, and even when he isn’t, so the midfield will stay the same.

If Grealish is retained and Ndiaye stays then Moyes will not touch the wide options. George and Dibling will be getting off the bench on 70 mins each week if they’re lucky.

So the only position we may see a change in is upfront. But it absolutely wouldn’t surprise me if Everton did their usual thing of pursuing a completely out of reach striker all summer then claiming there was no value in the market and Moyes is happy with Beto and Barry.

I don’t see where the improvement to the team comes. There’d have to be a massively bold choice like dropping Tarkwoski Mykolenko Gueye Beto and maybe not bringing back Grealish, and I can’t see Moyes making any of them.

Well you mentioned the top half thing that i posted so i'll just stick with that. Everton dropped from 8th to 11th recently and there were posts in this thread about now we're in the bottom half should he be sacked. In Evertons case they throw in the 100m as part of the reason. Palace imo under Glasner have had a better squad than their league finishes. I think they've had a good enough squad to at least challenge for Europe through the league. Not a cup win.
Theres nothing outrageous in that comment.

If we back him and he completely ignores the obvious than we are pretty much buggered, if we than said our goodbyes we would be handing someone else a totally mismatched squad with the same holes..

Kinnear really needs to be looking at the players being put to him before he opens the purse.

He's the CEO.

Would we have said the same about any of the previous CEOs?

We need some fundamental radical changes in the team.

We need to move to a pacey CB pairing, JOB and Branthwaite plus probably another CB to cover if they’re injured. Tarkwoski has been monumental for us in battling relegation but if we want to move forward the back two can’t be Tarkwoski and Keane. The fullbacks also can’t be Mykolenko and JOB so we need to gamble on dismantling what has been a good defence in the hope of creating a better overall team with pace and technique in every position.

Idrissa Gueye needs to be dropped. I’m sorry I know that’s blasphemy on here but successful PL sides don’t have 37 year olds playing 95 mins every single week. He’s chasing shadows and ceding territory every week. He sometimes nicks the ball back in a later phase of the play and people clap for it but he already lost the territorial battle a few moves ago and we’re under pressure. He’s not a top midfielder and can’t compete with the best in the league anymore. He wasn’t good enough that day Coutinho danced round him at Anfield and that was 8 years ago.

Pace needs to be added on the flanks. Grealish and Ndiaye are great but look at Bayern PSG Barcelona Arsenal, the best teams in Europe don’t have slow tricky players who cut inside and slow the game down.

We need to spend big on a genuine top class striker. Is Moyes confident enough to do it?

If we want to push on and make strides we need to be bold, just tinkering with this team and going again next season will end up with exactly the same outcome.

The problem is the finishing place prize money that's involved in the Prem. And while we still have an outside chance of European football he'll continue with the most likely to get a result team selection.

Neither do we.

Our previous CEO's have worked over multiple Managers.
You always have to back the manager you are bringing in to start with, or why are you bringing them in. But he is the one that should be looking in depth to what the Manager is serving up, The CEO isn't there to kiss the backside of the Manager, he's there to make sure the club are heading in the right direction.

We've already had one mess of a window, his job will be on the line if he backs another mess of a spend.
