2025/26 David Moyes

When I see a player out there not competing and not battling then I blame the player 10 times out of 10.
So where do we go with him, then? Sell him for a huge loss? Run his contract down and limit our own squad and his career? Or try and actually manage him and get something out of our very sizeable investment?

The current problem is not Moyes, it's lack of squad depth. Injuries, Afcon, suspensions etc. Let's not lose our heads. Hard to win games against Premier League sides when your best players aren't available. This is a tough period but when the players return we'll be back on track.
Moyes is very definitely part of the problem.

Son of Kenwright has to be purged if we are ever to move on from the last 35 years. Summer at the latest, please.

The usual brown noses at the media bigging up the excuses theory. Problem at Everton is that real criticism never gets through to the club as they build a wall of mediocrity around them from the academy up. Nothing changes and the Kenwright years roll on…

Spot on. I’d rather read the alphabet written in dog cack on a alley wall than the likes of the Echo. They are all complicit.

I'd have given the back ups more minutes earlier in the season when we were playing better, give them some encouragement, some confidence. They look terrified out there and no doubt Moyes will publicly slag then off again this afternoon. I don't see how isolating and denigrating them helps anything. Our best player today was Aznou, a lad who couldn't get a sniff at the first team, according to many on here that's how it should be but I can't make any sense of it.

Look, Aznou came on and did well, but we've no idea how he's looked in training or how he's adapting. You could even see how he struggled in extra time.

If we were throwing these kids in every week and they were letting us down people would be bemoaning that. It's a difficult balancing act.

We all wish the likes of Dibling and Aznou had settled in and played a lot more. It just doesn't always go like that with youngsters.

Dibling was garbage out there today, no arguments. However, we have lots of players who are consistently terrible who play every week, regardless.

I saw enough of Dibling at Southampton to know that he's a very talented lad. I've no idea why that hasn't been replicated here, maybe it's Dibling, maybe it's the coaches or maybe it's a bit of both. Whatever the reason, it's a manager's job to get the best out of his players and I would argue, strongly, that Moyes is not currently doing that.
Moyes doesn't know how to let talented players who can dribble play. He's making sure Dibling is in position if and when the play breaks down. The only time Dibling came in field and dribbled he caused a bit of panic. At Southampton he was virtually given a free role to go get the ball, or move into position to receive the ball, turn and attack. Moyes wont have him doing that, like he tried at West Ham with Kudos, who more often than not took no notice.

A lot of truth in this mate, and we shouldn't lose sight of that.

There are deeper concerns too though - like even prior AFCON, only Wolves had scored less league goals than us.

Of course when we have Grealish, Dewsbury-Hall etc in the team, we're better equipped to win. Its why I hope this season would see improvements on the last few.

Be back on the track to nowhere, looking forward to that.

I dont know the answer to that. You'd need to know the player and see him on a day to day basis to know why he's not performing.

All I know is that all players need to have personal pride and standards at this level. You've got no chance if you won't compete.

But it practically was 11 strangers on the pitch. You replay that game with whoever you want in charge and you're going to get the same type of performance.

No acknowledgement of the fact we're down to the bare bones with kids on the bench and playing 120 minutes. Just an expectation that we should be winning what was actually a very difficult game.
Honestly mate im not arsed about the ET or pens, we didnt deserve to get to that point.

It was played by us as if we were safe and it was the last couple of games of the season with nothing to play for.

In a cup game at home regardless of the team selection i want to see better, more fight, more coached, and more braver with the ball and higher tempo.

That was as bad as anything Dyche served up that and the last couple of performances.

While this week feels like the nadir, don’t forget we have Villa and Brighton away plus a home visit from Leeds in between where DCL will probably score at least one.
Save some angst for those games too.

Illy, KDH, Gana, Charly and Branthwaite coming back in the next couple of weeks, we were never doing anything this season other than avoiding relegation and we are still on track to succeed with that.

40 points was the 1st target the manager set, let’s concentrate on that.

Squad is paper thin yes, but... they just are not motiated like other seams. Wolves, Brentford,Sunderland and even Burnley have come to ours and looked much more up for it. Motivation is down to the manager, no one else.
