2025/26 David Moyes

I don't think losing to Arsenal is upsetting too many. It was the manner of the performance. We never laid a glove on them. Losing 0-1 is "respectable" but we barely had a shot. Grim. The key now, however, is we win at Burnley. Four points mimimum from the next two. My worry is we are so bereft without the missing Ndiaye and KDH that I don't see where the next goal is coming from. In that sense, winning at Burnley doesn't look quite as straightforward as it should be. And needs to be. With Moyes, the utter lack of fantasy against the likes of Arsenal at home can only be balanced by a good win at places like Burnley. If he plays the "they're better than us" card against the top sides, the flipside is we need to deliver against the relegation fodder. In the absence of being entertained by a "have-a-go" side, we have to be winning at places we should be winning.

What upset me most was that he sat there in that dugout with it all turning to 💩 and never once gave the impression he knew that the midfield needed an extra body in there...and that's for one very good reason: he cant see the problems on the pitch in-game. He just doesn't see it; and even if he did see it he'd be unwilling to change shape in order to get another body into midfield, because that would require a Plan B when he only has Plan A and Plan A.

An utter 'kin duffer of a manager.

My memory of the game will be him starting McNeil over a £35mil signing.

Then looking shocked when McNeil booted a corner out of play.

Being angry when McNeil did nothing all game.

Then the loud cheer when Dibling came on.

I am not sure how much longer he is going to last with TFG tbh. They have to be thinking to themselves can we do better than this. Hill Dickinson is often becoming easy pickings for away teams now. I know Arsenal are the top team but lets be honest, they were not at their best and were there for the taking yesterday and we gifted them a pen, offered no threat whatsoever and questionable decisions and performances once again. We can blame Var and refs as much as we want and they have been bad but even without their influence we have often not been anywhere near good enough either way.

I will be surprised if he makes it to the end of the season.

The biggest irony of the whole thing is that Dibling is actually one of those players that hardly loses the ball. He’s like Grealish in that players do the rally press him and he had that good first touch. Meanwhile McNeil for all his ‘experience’ lashed a corner straight to the opposite corner and gave the ball away pretty much every time he got it.
I take your Mcneil shout but Dibling is far from Grealish. He doesn't even work as hard as him even with fresh legs.
McNeil might be very limited but doesn't make Dibling better than what he is just because he's a rival for the spot.

I'd like to see him get a run of games but think he has a lot to improve on, has done nothing of note in any of the minutes he's had

If people want safety and see Everton as a social forum for them to gather about in and have a drink and wear some blue gear, fine, he's your man.

If you want Everton to be a top club again he needs punting ASAP.

The feller will ALWAYS see Everton as a club that's second rate so he fits perfectly with the fans who slot into group 1 above.

They're welcome to each other.

I'd be shocked if TFG booted him before the summer.

Would be so so surprised. He simply is not doing a sack worthy job when it comes to winning football matches, and that's the only time you sack mid-season ideally. He is however doing a 'planned succession' worthy job when it comes to the development of the squad long term.

What squad development?

It was a very familiar performance to his first spell here.
But we're missing 3 of our best players, so it was always going to be hard.
I didn't want Moyes back but he's done excellent job, esp last season.
I expected 2 joyless mid table finishes this season and next, which is ok.
Gives us some stability and few windows to improve the squad.
24 pts at this stage with 2 goals from our strikers is better than I expected.

He’s right up your street then.

Cant believe some getting onto Moyes for that result. We were depleted and gave a good go of it and were unlucky perhaps not to get a penalty. We played worse when rohl and dibling came on and couldnt even get the ball so that answers why he didnt start either of them. After going one behind we did well to stay in with a chance against currently the best team in the country, maybe even in europe

Moyes? Cant see it while were 3pts off 6th.

I think we'll know more this window and in the summer the key will be how much the transfer budget is.

Its a risk to have a manager go into the last season on his contract. Why would players sign 4 or 5 year deals for him?

He needs europe or for there to be a positive development of the younger players who should be fixtures in and around the 11 next season.

Well, last season he was receiving the ball back to goal, turning and running directly at the opposition goal.

Even this season when used as a 10 he was initially doing the same - that is one of his main strengths, quick on the transition and then make things happen through risky, potential game changing runs and passes.

He's not done any of that recently and it looks like this is being coached out of him, in favour of running around and making simple passes to retain posession.

He's being turned into a negative boring player otherwise hes not being played.

Who is the " fella who was playing with the reserves for Brighton" ?
Three games ago it was two points off 3rd, then 3 points off 5th, now 3 points off sixth.

In three games time it could be four points above 18th.
