2025/26 David Moyes

Perhaps we just have to admit that it doesn’t matter who the manager is the players are rubbish and until that changes Moyes’s hands are tied. He needs time to build a team and squad and that won’t be done in a couple of transfer windows, it’ll probably take seasons.
I`d like to see Moyes change the way he sets the team team up for every single game before making excuses for him and blaming the players. I was working last night so didn`t get to see the game, but check the full time score and had a look at the stats at FT. Moyes big change was to swap Barry in for Beto. That`s about as much as he seems to be able to change things about. Even when he makes a few changes in the starting XI, its the same setup and pretty much the same out come. Time to come up with some new tactics Moyes because there`s plenty of us getting a bit bored seeing the same rubbish every weekend and seeing points thrown away game after game.

I think he is doing less than the expected level of "stable" currently

Which says a lot, as the expectations were not that high for him

He may even turn this around with a run and get us to that acceptably ok level

He may even make it to the summer if he does

However he will have to do something more than just okay to get a chance to stay on IMO, unless he gets lucky again and the owners have much less ambition and impatience than people are imagining/hoping

It doesn't matter the particular set of circumstances we have now, he won't get the patience that a brand new manager for a new era would have gotten, as all the people complaining in this thread have had 12 seasons of him to make their opinion and what they have seen does not inspire them.

I complain a lot about the impatience of football fans in general, but I think 12 seasons of the same face doing many of the same annoying things is a fair reason for people to want him gone. (Tho personally prefer summer, as don't trust Everton with a mid season appointment)

I've said this numerous times but I'll say it again: He let it be known he has the final say on transfers, so this is his team.

He rolled out the ridiculous 'we could only afford a £30m striker' line when he went and green lighted a £35m deal for a backup winger.

He picks the team, he refuses to make proactive subs, he makes decisions such as playing Dwight McNeil in a position he's highly likely to embarrass himself in.

The simple fact is we went into the season when the two worst strikers in the entire division. He somehow agreed with whoever is identifying players behind the scenes that it made perfect sense to bring in a younger version of Beto and no further striking reinforcements.

Under the same circumstances (over £100m made available to improve the squad) hopefully other managers would have made some better choices in the summer — we almost certainly wouldn't be left so threadbare in certain positions now.

Moyes let us down in the summer, and he's letting us down now.

Its really poor from Moyes

For the first time in a long time we actually have a few options rather keep playing the same team the same way.

Get Rohl in the team
Get Garner RB
Start Alacaraz or bring him on earlier
Try Ndaiye as a striker
Get Dibling some game time
Put Grealish in the #10
Try JOB at CB

Do something different

We have a team full of mostly average players, so you usually end up in an average league position, midtable. This will only change when we buy quality players, we are just making the numbers up.

I thought using the standard XI again was poor but to be fair, first half an hour we played really well and should have been out of sight and I wouldn't have had anything to complain about.

Having no decent striker is just completely ruining what could have been a class season.

It is, but the manager allowed it to happen, which is bizarre behaviour from a safety first manager, we should have just signed an old forward who knows where the goal is, they'd have scored 3 by now and we'd have 4 or 5 more points.

So now we have established Grealish N'diaye Pickford et al are average players . How exactly are we going to bring in quality players? Have you been asleep for the last few years ? The secret is get the ones you have playing in a way they could win -not they might draw .If the two CFs are not scoring it could be that they get so few chances ,even Haaland misses but all Moyes preaches is for the ball to be put in the box ,where it is the defenders who have any advantage ,usually because of numbers but it becomes a lottery if you main striker is not scoring . If you use the subs like he does then your chances diminish even further .
