2025/26 David Moyes

We had over 30 minutes to get back into it. Wolves couldn't get near the ball. The players on the pitch had enough about them to win last night.

Barry or Beto is like being given the choice of a broken arm or broken leg. Don't want either. We got nothing out of RS and drew with Villa because of these 2.

Most annoying last night was Ndiaye thinking he can score from impossible positions. Lost count of his useless potshots.

Frankly, I'm amazed N'diaye isn't going for goal from our 6 yard box, because conjuring things for the jokers in front of him must be a little frustrating by now.

Last night was bad, worse than a bad day in the office, it was a mess. There was a quiet resignation of the inevitable, on the pitch, and keeping up on here. It's like a cloud we drag around with us, always waiting on it to rain.

Not sure talking up the game as though it's a preseason fixture is the defence you think it is mate. Him doing that is largely the point of criticism.

What was the lesson from playing Coleman left back? What new lesson did we learn from starting McNeil? He's managed Alcaraz last season, and he apparently was really big on us signing Dibling so will have a clear idea on him.

Sometimes it's best to just call a spade a spade. Moyes dropped a massive clanger last night. He'll have annoyed more fans than he perhaps realises.
It can't just be about what lessons did he learn these players need matches or some decent game time. They are part of the 1st team squad on equal footing with the others. The only change I didn't agree with was Pickford. He saves them 2 shots that go in.

While I don't think our start to the season has been anything more than decent, up until the derby we made the Leeds game look like an anomaly. Last night was a chance to make the RS result also look like a blip, and even build off the fairly strong 2nd half we had there. But a meek defeat to a side already looking like relegation fodder should sober everyone up, not least the manager. I wouldn't be reaching for the panic button just yet, but back-to-back defeats (in whatever competition) do no one any good, so a decent result on Monday coming is really important.

If we've been worked out we need a manager that provides an alternative attacking approach, like using wing backs and changing systems in-game....it's a good job we have such a flexible manager in place, isn't it?...
Which he wouldn't be allowed to do as he would get pelters if it didn't come off or took time.

Well, like I said to you earlier;

When players form dips.

5 subs per game.

You play yourself into the team, you don't get given carte blanche opportunity at the expense of the club/in a winnable cup competition.

Has McNeil done anything so far this season to decide he deserves a start? Coleman? Would we learn anything from them starting the game?

If you want to rotate/give some players an opportunity, do it as a couple of changes.

Not 7.

... Using your logic/last nights logic of using cup competitions to give fringe players minutes, then we'll never win a domestic cup until our weakened team is good enough to win one. It's a nonsense to me.

They really arent' the only options.
Is Grealish over worked ? He's played nothing over Summer, and no international call up yet either. Same with Garner, KDH, Alcaraz...maybe NDiaye and Beto have travelled a lot, but still...we are not in the situation to have a mass rest up
Grealish is getting walloped 10 times a game, he might well have bulletproof calves but that doesn't mean the rest of him is on loan from superman.
Part of why Moyes rotated last night was to provide a bit of recovery as we played on Saturday, to get a bit of match practice in for the players not used much or at all and to give a chance to make a case for more involvement. Last night was a game full of P45's (notice of being sacked/unemployed if you're outside of the UK).
His after match comments are a bit much, it was a 0-0 game apparently and Wolves weren't all that, well they got in a few times with the one touch stuff and clearly were more up for the game than we were. They got the win, scored the goals, and kicked out at our better players ALL game.
It's about desire, no one gifts you the right to play silky sexy football, you've got to fight for it, to want it enough. This side is struggling for bottle.

your theorem of players playing their way into the squad relies to a point on David subbing them on way before the 86 minute mark of games, I would suggest.

Still can't get my head around this.

There's a minority defending or at the very least trying to justify the team selected by the manager last night.

I stick by once that team sheet came out most new what the outcome would be ( no matter who the opposition was ) because we've been here season after season for years.

Its a HUGE opportunity missed to progress in a competition where many other teams will have their priorities firmly fixed on Europe this season .
We have by far the lowest workload of anyone challenging for that cup.

We are light years away from prioritising what competition we want to be in.
There is no justification in having 2 left backs on the bench and Coleman given that spot , nor leaving Gana out to give Tim minutes , nor starting McNeil ahead of Grealish & Ndiaye. Leaving Pickford out was the crown topper for me.

We hear the argument squad players have to get game time , but they have to justify that selection to get that chance and quite frankly none of them deserve to and have been abysmal. It was a recipe for disaster from the get go.

Pick your strongest and fittest side , my guess is we win it comfortably and in a position to bring squad players in when & if needed throughout the game.

Go Big or Go Home it works in all types of sport most notably in football.
If this manager doesn't know this after decades in the sport he never will.

Looks like Moysie and the rest of us will just have to settle for winning the FA Cup and finishing 4th in the Premier League this season.
Have you been dreaming - look if DM wanted to make changes last night 2-3 youngsters - in that team you could say oh he gave them a chance but Coleman at left back stated it all & Alcatraz who IMO was one of our better players subbed at HT?

Alls it did prove is we should have got rid of Dwight MacNeil in the summer .....

But its the peaks and troughs isn't it mate, Coleman on one hand and other squaides that needed a stretch in the legs - we had 90mill euro in investment we made in the summer in young talent under 22 starting last night.

Those players are the future of the club and they need opportunities, trust to start games, experience exposure and development.

Grealish isn't the future of the football club for the next 5 years.
But Grealish is here now and being paid an absolute fortune, we should be playing him at every opportunity, he came here to play first team football, not sit on the bench. 5 games it takes to get to a cup final in this competition and with the teams left in we could have had a good run, when we got to the Milk Cup final and FA cup final in 84 I couldn't tell you what league position we finished in but I remember every second of those cup runs and my trips to Wembley
