2025/26 David Moyes

Totally my fault.
No, not your fault. The attitude our fans have had about shrugging their shoulders over another season without success hands the owners of this club all the excuses they need to continue backing managers who are not good enough to get us success.

I hope to goodness the famed trigger happy ownership stick to their script with this club too, because I dont think I could stick this feller for another two years. He's a dead hand on Everton. A dour visionless and ambition-less man.

I didnt write a single excuse, I merely gave my view on the nights events.

I dont even care we lost, we were never gonna win it anyway, we wont win anything else in my lifetime, ive made my peace with that.
We may well never be good enough to win anything

But all these cup losses to rubbish teams where we play a weakened side absolutely sting for me. I'd rather lose 3 league games than these games. I can't support an Everton who aren't desperate to try win something. If our best team loses, so be it. But I can't support a manager who I don't believe gave it a good go.

Who's talking about us definitely winning the League Cup? People were simply hoping for a run and to beat the worst team in our division. How very dare they.

The competition isn't cursed. We simply don't pick our best team often enough to maximise our chances of beating even poorer sides than us.

Made up statements are even more fun.

People are talking of frustration of realistic chance of winning a trophy going begging - in my experience you have to have an expectation of winning it, to believe you are going to win it, no?

In the history of competing in this competition - we’ve never competed by playing our best team ….nah mate.

Dont understand your last point, my source was transfer around.

again it’s not about this game - it was turd

everyone seen that.

but to say sack him is idiotic
I never said anything about sacking him and don't expect him to be sacked, but we have proper owners now who will want a return on their investment and they won't put up these types of games if we see a few more of them. You and the rest of his fan club just need to get over it.

Disappointing tonight but the hyperbole is crazy.

We were literally one of the worst run PL clubs, with the worst owners, most negative manager, playing the worst football, with an ageing and poor squad with no depth like 10 months ago.

Clearly squad depth is still a problem, and tonight has been disappointing but let’s not forget where we were incredibly recently.

We were also playing top flight opposition so even with our first 11 we dont have given right to win.

It’s been 6 games with this ‘new squad’ and we are still missing players. Expectations are through the roof already.
But that is the exact reason I’m uncharacteristically fuming.

We as a club so desperately would like a cup, heck even getting to the semi finals would bring some long awaited positivity and tangible signs that we are progressing.

So why not put a team out that looks as if you really mean to try to win the game from the start?

Rather than 7 changes as if it is a preseason friendly?

And their manager got more out of them than ours got out of his.

Whatever way we slice it, tonight was a horror show by the manager.
I would neither want to replace him or discredit what he has done since he came in.
We could have got a point or three at Anfield against a tired Liverpool if we had a go from the start. Yes they have a better squad but they had just played a tough game.
Our best 11 could have won tonight but he did not start them. We are not in Europe and tbis was important.
Wake up Dave, Nuno is available.

Our relegation threatened team should have just lost to Derby, Bristol or Norwich in the FA Cup back in 1995 then eh?
