2025/26 David Moyes

Interesting you focussed on the six point “jump” and didn’t mention the 25 point drop followed by a further 3 point drop.

Admittedly I’m biased, but the best most consistent team I’ve seen from Everton is Everton 07-09. I absolutely adore Joe Royle and love what he did between Nov 94’ and December 96’. But what Moyes did for us from 02-13 is unprecedented in most of the people on this forums life. So he gets all of my grace and latitude, I’ll be honest, if he’d of done worse than this I’d still support him, but for him to take over from Dyche (who I don’t think was as bad as some on here say) and have us as the 5th best team in the country since (points earned) then I won’t be crying because this Liverpool team (champions + £450m spent) beat us today when we gave our best performance at the pit in 5 years.

Every time we lose this thread blows up, it’s ridiculous. We beat wolves and West Ham, I guarantee the moaners won’t post a thing in here.

(That was a lot of brackets)
It’s because I’m talking about the 2013/14 season , which in isolation, and in my opinion…was the best and most exciting or enjoyable season we have had in recent history (I was there in the 80’s but obviously not including 84/85 & 86/87 in this, more post 2000) especially in regards to style of play, that was how I wanted my Everton team to play and for one glorious year we had it . Although I didn’t want him back I’m not a Moyes hater and recognise the good job he’s done post Dyche (although your comments on Dyche are concerning , 1st season good job , second appalling) . You are also correct in saying some of the Moyes teams played great football and he was unlucky with long term injuries to key players at times. My only criticism would be this innate conservatism at times and not making tactical changes/ throwing the dice to try and win games rather than leave it too late to make changes.

It was a season that petered out and required a ridiculous and unsustainable amount of freakishly good individual goals. It was never going to sustain. Martinez absolutely started this rot.

we’ve lost so all the moyes bashers come alive
Doesn't mean they're wrong though.
For instance...
Grealish said the players had a 'word' with Moyes at HT - and there was an improvement
And even then he only put attackers on with 4 mins to go

Seems there may be a case to answer.

Moyes will be Moyes?

We all hope that

Totally dismissing the fact we were playing the current champions at Anfield who’ve replaced all their dead wood with better quality?

We were set up exactly the same in the first half as the second. Except nothing stuck to Beto and Liverpool pressed us. We then got back into the game and looked the better team toward the end of the first half and majority of the second.

Liverpool will most likely win the league again this year. I’m not sure exactly what you were expecting? We don’t do well there. Today I thought the team showed character after going 2 down.
We'll never win there with Moyes in charge, that's for sure.

Managers who rely on motivation alone and discipline have a name - Ted Lasso. And those clubs are only successful on the tele. Looking down the road, we need fresh thinking. We need daring. The intangibles Moyes has brought has put the ship on the right course. Looking ahead, it might be time sooner rather than later for a new captain.
We have a new stadium, new owners, new players, new era. But we have a bang average older manager - the ghost of Everton past.

Wolves are all over the place. If he rotates for that game and doesn't hand it 100% because he has West Ham as the priority there'll be a lot of angry people.

I expect a win down there given their form. Yes it's difficult to get a win at another PL club's ground so soon after beating them before, but Wolves are an abysmal outfit begging to be dispatched in that game.

Perhaps the manager shouldn't have sanctioned 27 million on the striker he did buy then?
He’s here on a 2 year contract. As much as he will look at the short term, he will also know the need for longer term investments. Maybe TB isn’t ready but we’ve been too much only about the ‘today’ for far too long.
