2025/26 David Moyes

Without trying to sound like making excuses in advance for Moyes, in recent years there's been 5-6 points between 8th and 15th. A season of slim margins for sure. I hope it gives the manager and team motivation to treat every game against other teams in this area of the table as hugely important points to pick up, 3 points unfancied could be the difference between what fans see as success or failure.

When you have players like Grealish rather than Harrison, Lindstrom, Gray - you often get on the better side of them slim margins.

Add some full backs/balance, and some pace with a half decent number 9 to this squad and its Europe.

We could have kept that player if we wanted to.

That player was also absolutely slated by most/the fan base largely wanted him gone.

It's not like when we HAD to sell Richarlison, Iwobi, Gordon etc.

We're in a much better place now, we can make the decisions we want as a club, like refusing to sell Braithwaite and NDiaye in the summer and with that, we should expect progress.
We have not been a point from the relegation spots this season. Compared to last, that's improvement.

I think I'll need to look into this previous 7 seasons window thing, 'cos the iceland window still looms heavy on the brow, and I appreciate time does fly. Iwobi was asked to stay, but wanted a return to London. Oh, also, the same that hated Cal-Lewin, aren't quite so loud now - that he's scoring and some others are not.

Happy reading

Dyche was never robbed of his 4 best players at the same time, not once. But anyway, I’m expecting us to have them available for the second half of the season so in that instance, yes, I have no doubt we will finish top half and if we don’t it’s been a failure.
I'm glad we agree on the bolded bit.

On the injury front, at the start of last season Dyche had 14 players fit with Branthwaite, Garner and a bunch of other players out injured. Injuries are what we do. I'm not seeing a world of difference.

Absolutely agree, we just don't have good full backs or anything resembling a decent number 9. We've built up depth in the other areas though, and I think it's a slow moving project which I prefer to the wasteful Moshiri years. Moyes is doing a fair job of creating this stability. I've said before though, I don't want him to be given the chance to take us to the next level, he has a glass ceiling ( @chicoazul ), but I think he's doing a pretty sound job currently.

We've been very fortunate with injuries this season. I think it was only Fulham have had less.

We've only really missed Braithwaite.

Dewsbury-Hall is a kick in the balls, depending on how long he's out- as is AFCON but we signed £17m Rohl who can come in, and we have... whatever we paid for Dibling for Ndiaye. Or McNeil, who as bad as he seems now, was once one of our most important players...

I don't disagree. He's done well. Wolves piss take aside, I'm happy with this season so far.

Still, he wins the next 5, or loses the next 5 - my overall opinion doesn't change on the bloke. Which sounds like the same as yours.

He is what he is. Was glad when he left the first time, was glad when he rejoined us. He's what we've needed at certain points in our club's history. He outlived his welcome the first time, I hope it doesn't happen again. That's not to say I'm not very grateful for his contribution to the club, it's just business.
