2025/26 David Moyes

I don't think recruitment has been as disastrous as others have suggested at least in regards to the players we've brought in. Moyes was supposedly very keen on bringing dibling in according to reports. I think Dibling will become a worthwhile signing eventually, it's just Moyes being thorough and ensuring that Dibling is ready I'm Moyes' mind, he has a history of being very particular about when to fully trust younger players, and he doesn't expect them to be a premade product. So he can be excited about player and at the same time not expect dibling to make an immediate impact.
Barry is not a great signing. No goals for a striker makes this an easy one to call.

Dibling has potential but it's no use to us if we never see him on the pitch. Same goes for Aznou. Rohl appears to have legs made of biscuits and is a natural replacement for Jean Paul Gbamin.

KDH and Grealish are the only ones you can say are successful right now and one is only a loan. It's not disastrous, but it is disappointing and I don't think the responsibility falls mainly on Moyes for this.

So Barry is a complete write off then after 6 months?

Without scoring? Yes.

The lad looks like he could play his entire career and not score one to me right now unfortunately.

I'm not impressed because he can control a pass.
He's 23 and playing in a new environment. His career suggests he starts slowly at new clubs and Moyes knows this hence why he has tried to bring him on slowly. If Beto had carried on his last season end of the season form then Barry would of been given time to acclimatise which was what the strategy was. I'm not giving up a 23 year old as lost just because he's started badly as I think he needs at least 2 seasons before judging whether he's up to it or not

I don't think our struggles in that window are down to Dithering Davey. I think the days of him being able to impact the window that much are long gone tbh.

I think it was just very simple that we were low down on the list for the players we wanted or not even on the map for some.
Yeah probably likely. I still think it's a combo of both (and what a proper Everton combo FFS) personally.

And maybe we were because we've been crap, maybe we were because some players don't want to play for him or like him too like - Grealish clearly respects Moyes, but maybe others don't, and so on, as we should be able to match quite a few salaries across Europe.

It's just probably more complex than either me or you are putting it here, but counterpoints and opinions innit

Yes it is an anomaly.

Is that not massively obvious by virtue of the fact you can identify one team only that meets this criteria?

Its also by virtue of them having an established recruitment department. Ours just got stood up as @blueboy72 just pointed out.

Yet people are still using it as a stick for Moyes back as if he went out and personally picked out these specific players on his tod.
Sunderland went into the window knowing where they were as a club, they bought wide within a pool ( Bar Xhaka ) that they realistically could attract, it has paid off.

We went into the window with higher expectations of who we could attract, we had the initial right ideas, but plan C doesn't always pay off.

Need to forget who we did sign, as they can still prove their worth.

It's what we didn't sign.
