2025/26 David Moyes

'Sam Allardici' sounds like a DJ that finished 5th on Latvia's Got Talent, but now makes a "living" performing sets in Ibiza for teenagers from Burnley who booked the wrong summer holiday hotel.
I think he actually got that backwards, 'Allardyce' was never the problem, it was 'Sam'

Mikel Allardyce or Enzo Allardyce would be a world beater!

Look what's happened to the RS once the football gods noticed their manager's name is the Dutch equivalent of Joe Bloggs

I think you mean *wife* beater, and I thought Arne Slot was great in the Addams Family.

Would you have prefered it if he’d came out and said we lost because Pickford played like a biff or JOB and Myko play like the won a competition. Or alternatively he makes excuses.

The delivery was poor of what he’s trying to say but if we didn’t have that terrible opening minute, the game will probably have been very different. Just move onto Bournemouth and hopefully put it behind us
That’s exactly what he did do. The smart play was to say we were second best all evening, him included. That was the truth.

He said we were poor, it was disappointing and we had an off day as well as New being good and having an on day

What would you have said?
I would have used the word “Phenomenal” at least 6 times. I didn’t hear him taking responsibility, I heard him say that we had no chance of competing with a team in the same division as us because they were in the champions league, conveniently ignoring that their away form in the same league was abysmal.

Baron Inglebert von Allardyce would have won the World Cup!

You don't think saying we were poor, disappointing and having an off day is an admission of fault? He is the manager, it's implicit

He didn't say we had no chance, he said they are currently better than us, and they are, so us having an off day is really bad against a better squad.

You didn't really say how you would answer it though that would be satisfactory to fans. I honestly think there is nothing he could say that would sound good after that drubbing and it seems to me people are more upset about his post match comments than about the match itself.

It is but it’s hardly him saying he set us up for failure and watched on for 45 minutes while we played into Newcastle’s gameplan perfectly. I’m far more annoyed at the “performance” than his post match comments which were him rubbing salt in the wounds.

Perhaps I would have given another manager the benefit of the doubt but he’s got lots of form for this, he’s a defeat or two away from referring to himself in the third person. Anyway, he needs to work on another tactic without having Gana or a player like Gana available because nobody does what he can in the squad. Usually Moyes stumbles upon something good when his favourites are missing, let’s hope that happens again.

Imo something like “ It’s really disappointing we couldn’t build on Mondays result especially being at home. Credit to Newcastle they fully deserved the win. We have to look forward to Tuesday now and make sure tonight’s performance isn’t repeated “

a fair take, but lets be real: beat B'mouth in our next game and no one will care about some comments in some interview after a loss a few days previous. the same heads-fallen-off fans enraged by suggesting we're not at NU's level will be right back to "but we're getting Europe" talk quicker than you can say 'silly blue donuts'.
