2025/26 David Moyes

But err, they do consinstently get knocked out. If you want to just draw it back to when the Champions League started, they've won it 9 times out of the 30 odd times it's been played. They've consistently been knocked out of that competition like many other great teams.

I wasn't trying to compare the situation at all, I was just pointing out that when it's two fairly matched teams, then results will fluctuate, and sometimes one team just outperforms another on the night. It doesn't automatically make them much better. Newcastle had lost their previous 4 against Everton, for example,

Must be bad being a fan of them.

Consistently getting knocked out even though they have won about a 1/3 of the last 30 years.

I wonder how they cope.

Makes perfect sense why we lost last night. I'd hate to see Everton win the champions league multiple times if we also got knocked out.

So glad we never play in it now.

Hasn’t been a peep from you for weeks then Liverpool win a game and you’re in here swinging around like a super bloo.

I back Everton managers, maybe give it a try instead of trawling the Liverpool thread for anyone criticising the RS.

I've been on here consistently for the past few weeks.

I'm not the one saying they will give up on the club if Howe is manager. How is that backing a potential Everton manager?

Because he wasn’t the manager was he. Not sure why that’s so difficult to grasp.

I believe managerial stability is a good thing so for most of the part I’d prefer to see Everton managers given time to turn results round until the results dictate they have to go.

Also really not sure why you bought up a historic post about Eddie Howe in the Moyes thread for no reason? Feeling perky because your boys finally won a game?

Oh, you're just being an utter bulb now. Would it be better if I just used the word 'regularly' as in at least more than every two seasons?

I was trying to explain the vagaries of sport, and how sometimes a fairly evenl rival can just do you on any occassion.

I'm starting to think you've never got off your arse for anything other than a pizza though.

Brighton , Brentford and West Ham all beat Newcastle away this season, they have a solid squad with depth but let's not act like they're the invincibles
Nobody is saying they are. But they have a better team and our self inflicted mistakes meant getting a result was beyond us.

We go into every game trying to win, but we should also be realistic about where we are.

I felt we were actually the better side for much of the game but our weaknesses were exposed. We also had no luck. In normal circumstances that would have been 1-0 at that half time and we would have gotten something out of the game.

Once again, I've never said I would quit on Everton.

And yet you accepted Benitez who is a kopite.

Strange.

Really don’t know what campaign you’re on about here. I didn’t want Howe as Everton manager, so what, he’s not the Everton manager anyway. You seemingly don’t understand hyperbole either.

Do everyone a favour and bore off back to the Liverpool thread and make sure no is in there knocking their recruitment or insulting Allison or Van Dijk on your watch.

You compared us losing last night to a team who has won the Champions League the most times.

Can you not see how stupid it is?

Nope, I compared us last night to a team who were better than us on the night. If we play them 10 times, we probably win 4 of them. Let's not pretend they're not slightly better than us. It happens. Let's not pretend that Madrid can't regularly lose against teams who are competing with them. One off games have vagaries.

No. He’s right. We currently aren’t on the same level of Newcastle and I’m surprised some people think we are.
Surely several things can be true at the same time though?
- Newcastle have a better squad than us
- Newcastle have been on a poor run of form, especially away, and played in Europe midweek so any differences between squad quality should have been lower.
- Any team can beat any other team in the premier league, as proved regularly each weekend
- There is no positive benefit in saying “we are not at Newcastle’s level” and praising them excessively.

Yes. It was an opportunity lost. However we were also coming off a draining midweek away match and I think people care too much about something as irrelevant as post-match comments from a manager.
